Isn't is about high time now to get rid of the state-owned SABC old dinosaur? I do not know of anyone at all who still tunes into the SABC TV programs! SABC TV licenses are null and void already because so few here in SA still watch the SABC TV programs which means that the majority of citizens who may still pay their SABC TV licenses are paying for what exactly now? To only keep some SABC employees in their jobs and for nothing else! The state-owned SABC must be sold off to private entities now who will be interested to take it over. All SA citizens must have the freedom of choice here in SA to decide for themselves what they want to subscribe to on the Internet and what they don't want to subscribe to, this must now be a personal individual choice for us South Africans to make here in SA and we must not be coerced into keeping on paying for the SABC TV licenses, just because it is still state-owned and for absolutely no other reason whatsoever and most certainly not because the SABC provides such great and entertaining programs which we all know is not the case at all! The SA government must let this SOE dinosaur go now, it has long since served it's purpose and it is no longer required at all and it is so old fashioned and so outdated as well!
Thank you!

The SABC has a number of issues making it a non-viable entity.
- It is from the dark ages of technology, it hasn't kept up with the rest of Africa and the world.
- It's old method of threatening the population with 'death' should they not pay their annual license fees, even if you don't watch their boring channels, is so archaic and autocratic.
- It makes a loss, they are stealing funds, they are a law unto themselves. This is a runaway SOE with belligerent management. (one cannot use the word leadership)
- The utility gets used as a political platform to indoctrinate the populous that watches it's substandard channels.
- It just sucks - good riddens!

Funding model
Funding model needs to be reviewed. We cannot sell everything to private sector.

SABC needs to be privatized or at least semi- privatized so that competent people will be employed to run it as a profitable business. I have always bought my TV licence every year and continue to do so and yet often receive letters saying that my household is one that is listed on the database as not having a TV license and if inspectors visit me I will be fined etc etc. This to me is proof that the systems are not run by competent employees who know how their own systems work or maybe they do not really care . SABC needs people who are able to understand that they need to actually work hard for their salaries to become a profitable business.

Just like SAL . A bottomless pit sucking up our tax payers money.
bad businesses should go bankrupt just like a private owned business. Find other ways to make it work. Start by retrenching redundant people.
And don't forget about corruption. Clearing that up might make a big difference.

The SABC is another failed SOE. Privatise it. At least then we can have quality content. Even those that pay their TV licence for SABC 1,2 and 3 were denied access to watch the rugby world cup if they had OpenView as well. How is that fair???
This is just another way that the ANC is going to loot funds from the taxpayers and working class citizens. The incompetence and the corruption just never ends!

In today's world of easy access to multimedia, they have exceeded their sell by date. I get more value out of watching YouTube than any service that the SABC has to offer and it is free.

Likewise, I cancelled my Premium Package Multichoice Contract earlier this year as a result of the repeats that they keep regurgitating!

If the SABC cannot fund itself it should not exist.
It is not needed
It should not take a cent of taxpayers money

Governance
Governance in all SOC's is of the lowest possible standard and we keep bailing them out with taxpayers money.
It's time to STOP this practice and leave them to sink or swim based on performance not on state-funded bailouts.

The SABC should be privatized. The government is notorious for buggering up everything they are responsible for and have proved over and over that they are a failed government that cannot manage anything. They have buggered up the SABC in the first place (like all the other state entities too ), so why in hell must the public consent to them continuing to do so.

SABC is now only an ANC mouthpiece. Is in breach of SA Constitution, the Broadcasting Act and jeaporsdises the prospects of free and fair elections. It is totally corrupt, incompetent and commercially unviable.
Any attempt to add this looting to municipal rates will trigger a mass boycott and the collapse of most municipalities that are already almost insolvent

Unfortunately like any other governing body, we are seeing the ripple effect of several years of mismanaging of funds, once the money leaves the hands of the consumer and reaches the institute it somehow just dissapears onto thin air, once the money is gone they then turn to the tax payer to bail them out, this is horse shit, the state is not a charity organization, it has to govern millions of people but yet cannot manage their own funds correctly, this is ludecrise, the law of this country cleary states you get paid for rendering a service, not milk the tax payer dry to fund elaberate salaries, scrap the bill!!!!

The sabc had been bailed out countless times and it's on a worse position than it was before. This shows that it cannot be saved by the current government. It should be shutdown or sold to a private entity.
