As long as it can never be used by the government against its own people the way the CCP government does to their own people and that the cameras are not compromised by being perhaps produced or bugged by Chinese government

Camera installation allows the transformation petty & pretty much opportunistic crime into full scale organised crime, information is currency and if no 32 has a routine for the day , that routine can be bought and enacted upon by people with criminal intent, recording stuff instead of encouraging people to use their areas, their walking spaces ,seems this initative for cameras is really about the very small car using population among us & not to protect the people who navigate daily the PGD territory to get groceries for their families at Capricorn Centre as an example, private companies are a law onto themselves, more so than the govnt. and of course they have vested interests in the neighbourhoods they seek to enmesh in surveillance, its not an impressive solution to anything criminal in our neighbourhoods,

This is long overdue. Our areas has been unsafe to travel alone fearing being mugged, women/children fearing being raped.

With human trafficking being on the rise or people being abducted is currently the concern cameras will guard our streets and that will help to bring those responsible for making our streets unsafe to book.

I believe that these systems are long overdue. In first world countries roads and other public places are monitored. These footage can be used in vehicle accidents, roberies, acts of violence, traffic law offenders AKA Taxis, etc.

As long as the video footage will not just be monitored and actually used to address issues as mentioned above and catch purpotraters.

I do however feel that facial recognition - that is said will not be included in the system - will be an added benefit when identifying criminals. Every person requires an Identity document, if facial recognition could be used to capture a database of citizens when ID photos and fingerprints are taken, it will be easier to identify and charge criminals when they are seen on video footage in the act of a crime or when their fingerprints are found at a crime scene, instead of just having the fingerprints of previous offenders in a database.

If the whole purpose of the camera system is to reduce crime it needs to be put to good use in actually catching the criminals not just identifying what they look like without knowing who they are.

What started now as a scheme to say it will protect us will be later used to control us. Big Brother. Private company should not be allowed to hav control over this system.

Whilst I support this plan, if it comes with too high a cost to me, then sorry, but no.

DUE TO THE INCREASE OF MODERN /PROFFESIONAL THEFT THAT IS HAPPENING FREQUENTLY IN OUR AREA THE NEED FOR CAMERAS ARE NECCESARY TO PREVENT THESE ROBBERIES FROM TAKING PLACE.
