The Bill in its entirety
That we the people have the full right to walk as free men anywhere in a public place by ourselves, with our families and our children, without the fear of being attacked by anyone. That we the people, have the God-given right to always be in the position to employ the necessary tactical self-defense measures as we see fit and to insure that we are not subjected to a deadly attack or assault with deadly weapons wielded by an assailant or by any person, persons or party.

I demand the right to bear arms be added to our constitution. I also demand that the CFR is disbanded, and that from now on only the person will be licensed to own firearmes and the firearma that person owns then enters a registry.

It's no use having a firearm with out ammunition. Criminals have far more weapons than the average man on the street. It's also your right to protect your family and your life which the clever boys in government take no issue with as they are so heavily protected by tax payers money they dont give a damn about the man on the Street.

I object to the amendment to the firearm control act. Police current role within society is to attend to crime scene, take statements & solve crimes after the crime has been committed. Their role is not to prevent a crime from happening. Until there is a policy in place and correctly enforced for police to prevent such crime from happening beforehand , the Firearm control act in its current form is necessary and a constitutional and human right. We the citizens of this country(RSA) have a right live, protect ourselves and our families especially if our governments has no ability to do so.

The capitulation of the Department to a lobby group to prepare this legislation is NOT democratic and an abdication of their responsibilities! The removal of self defence as an option might have been fine in a different time and different country. However, in South Africa at this time it is inconceivable.
The police are not up to the task in making the citizens safe in their own homes and towns. The intelligence services, which should assist in identifying criminal networks, are playing party political games and not doing their jobs so that criminals have nothing to fear, and there are no consequences to their criminal behaviour.
BTW it is understood that criminals use UNLICENCED firearms and therefore the proposed legislation does nothing to help the current crisis where some people in the SAPS are arming the criminals!

Not sure if my first response went through so sending another one.
I do not agree with the bill in its entirety.
The government is trying to disarm legal firearm owners while they cannot disarm illegal firearm owners.
This is taking away the Right To Life by not allowing legal owners to defend themselves and family.

IT IS MY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO DEFEND MYSELF AND MY FAMILY IF AN INTRUDER COMES INTO MY HOUSE ( WHICH IS MY LAST LINE OF DEFENCE AND THE INTRUDER SHOULDNT BE THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE)

I would like to take this opportunity to to say that the government in its entirety is a failure and that the ministry is made up of a bunch of morons. Thanks. Perhaps the government should focus on it's self and leave the law biding citizens who protect their families from the criminals they created alone. They cannot and will not protect us so we will do it ourselves.

Completely disagree with this. Self defence should be our right. Especially with our shocking crime stats. Why do you want to disarm legal gun owners?? Attention should be turned to policing illegal firearms in this country, that is where the problem lies.

DO NOT DISARM YOUR LAW OBIDING CITIZENS!!!!!!

It is ridiculous to say that we can't defend ourselves specially when robbers enter our homes. Are we just supposed to stand there and let them do whatever they want in our own homes? How would the minister feel if his house was broken into and his fsmooy threatened?

I do not support any part of this bill!
Rather focus on the criminals with illegal firearms, than us that go through proper training. licensing etc.
Law enforcement losing a lot of firearms should also be a priority.

Taking away the right to bear arms for self defense from law abiding citizen, is giving criminals free run of our country.

As citizens, we are terrorized by criminals on daily basis. Our lives are at the mercy of ruthless and violent criminals. The police are overwhelmed and are themselves infiltrated by criminals. We have to defend ourselves. The constitution guarantees us a right to life. We cannot allow criminals to take that right away. We need to defend ourselves anyhow we desire to and owning a firearm for self defence should be allowed.

It is ridiculous to enhance crime by implying such stupid and selfish law never the less... taking away law-abiding peoples self-defence or making it more difficult by adding such laws will not only promote crime but also adds to racism overall. Everyone knows that police do not go into informal settlements arias to remove stolen firearms which creates the most crime and racism in this country. It seems very clear that it is just another way of politics to get people in this country to hate each other and move the citizens attention from the government stealing funds to citizens hating each other.

Crime has gone out of control and usage for self defence is our last resort to protect ourselves as police have failed dismally

Limit on licence period
The Firearm Control in the first place is ridiculous, I have surrendered my firearm because of all the nonsense you have to go through and the long delays in getting your licence. I think it is a disgrace that working citizens and householders should be able to have a firearm for their protection.
