The Select Committee on Health and Social Services invited written comments on the Children’s Amendment Bill
The Bill seeks to amend the Children’s Act, 2005; so as to:

- amend and insert certain definitions;
- extend the children’s court jurisdiction;
- further provide for the care of abandoned or orphaned children and additional matters that may be regulated;
- provide for additional matters relating to children in alternative care; and to provide for matters connected therewith.
After four years of debate and consultation, it took only half an hour for the Social Development Portfolio Committee to decide on amendments.

Participation costs you NOTHING, and is so easy and quick to do through the platform that you really have no excuse not to help shape policy BEFORE it becomes law. Legally challenging implemented law is costly and rarely successful. Prevention is better than cure.
