Are they so oblivious to the obvious - that people are barely making it through the month. It looks like the ultimate objective is to increase salaries and live in luxury. Bugger the rest. Hele Zille all over - she said that "THE PEOPLE WILL PAY!". Mantashe said "We never struggled to be poor". And true to their sayings .. they are looking after themselves and helping themselves. We will pray the oppressors out. |

In the current economic climate, with high inflation and unemployment, these hikes – including 57% on water fixed charges, 100% on sanitation, 33% on electricity surcharges, and a new city-wide cleaning tariff – are excessive and regressive. Introducing property-value-based fixed charges disproportionately burdens middle-class families and property owners, effectively acting as a wealth tax. Transparency is lacking on staff salaries, and the City should prioritise efficiency and cutting waste before increasing rates by up to 100% in some areas. | |
