2026-02-04 06:30:25 +02:00 | Etienne | 2. Government Spending | Cut ministers salaries by half. Raises should be based on performance. Remove SOE subsidies and government subsidies. Government officials serve the people of their countries and should experience the same level of life. Spend money on education. Upgrade teacher training and learner education. Education forms the basis of common sense, knowledge, discipline and accountability. The emphasis of any budget should be education. Upgrade infrastructure and repair neglected infrastructure. Educate the members of the SAPS in public relations and basic law. They are not a private army.
2026-02-04 06:29:30 +02:00 | Jim | All of the above | Get rid of corruption and theft , then use the same money to reduce debt. The government wage bill needs reducing .not increasing. Senior government officials are grossly overpaid and need to be incentive based. Run the government like a serious private business and we can succeed. These comments relate to finances and not the whole of government

2026-02-04 06:28:40 +02:00 | Philip | 3. Addressing a large budget deficit | Reign in spending on flash items like VIP security for EVERY gov dept - ridiculous!!
2026-02-04 06:28:35 +02:00 | Teboho | 3. Addressing a large budget deficit | There is a great need in the healthcare institutions. Costs are rising every year but their budgets are not matching the rise - patients are not being adequately looked after in state hospitals and clinics, an example in case is the unavailability of stoma bags and products for stoma patients in the Eastern Cape.

2026-02-04 06:26:56 +02:00 | Nonnie | All of the above | 1. Gov must stop spending millions for the upkeep of foreign prisoners in jail. This is taxpayer's money, some coming from the victims. They must be deported & declared undesirable. Should they come back again & be incarcerated, their friends/ families must bring them food. Consider bringing back death penalty instead of Rm spent on hardened unrepentant criminals. 2. Stop appointing comrades with no qualifications who don't know what to do. 3. Reduce the bloated cabinet & the perks to create jobs for unemployed doctors & graduates. 4. Qualified engineers to fix & maintain drainage system to avoid spending money on disasters that could have been avoided. Climate change is also a reality that can't be ignored. 5. Do away with R350 grant & rather give coupons. People drink this money. Create responsible citizens. 6. Appoint more police & Metro police. 7. Foreigners buying property in SA to pay more taxes.
2026-02-04 06:26:17 +02:00 | Phillip | Other | Corruption, theft and overspending. The ANC needs to stop stealing all the money. It’s quite simple really.
2026-02-04 06:26:04 +02:00 | Pieter | All of the above | CUT our leaders' massive income & expenditure every year!!! Leaders have run our country like a business, not like a private income. That is why there is no money for the basic needs in our country. |
