Rooting out corruption, fraudulent office bearers, employing efficient people who can deliver (not only BEEEE criteria as we should be totally democratic) and ascertain qualifications to be be above board. We have had no street lights for almost six years and it has fallen on deaf ears due to useless nepotism councillors. Informal settlements are sprouting all around us thereby decreasing our property values and increasing insurance risk, and poor service delivery.

6. Tax revenues
Please reduce the tax brackets for lower income and middle class citizens.

I suggest that the government imposes an exit tax for the ultra-rich to assist in the drain on our economy.

Please fix old age pensions. Hear me out. There has been so much attention given to BASIC WAGE and miminum wage, to give people affordability on their income on the very minimum required for survival with dignity so WHY is Old Age Government pension 50% of that..do they get 50% discount everywhere? The logic isnt there..Please watch the old ones shopping on pension day..its tragic... our elders who rely on gov, go hungry 50% of the month (based on the math of minimum wage to sustain). Reduce the extra ordinary high salaries of state workers and use that extra for our pensioners.

It's easy, cut the huge salaries to everyone in government. Turn off the "free" electricity to all the scattered camps.you want power, pay for it.why should the few hard working tax payers pay for free loaders? The tenderneers have all the stolen money sitting in bank accounts here in sa.take it back.stop lying about the fuel prices buuuuuuutttt you don't care because none of you care. As long as your bank accounts in the uae keep getting bigger you all will just keep on doing what you want.

My concern, as it must be for many other taxpayers, is that the levels at which certain taxes are applied have not been revised in many years. The tax bands for income have been revised, but that is about all. Death duties, or the duties which are charged on estates haven't changed in 20 odd years. More precisely the value of an estate is taxed on anything over R7m for a married couple. When this was initially introduced it was a significant sum of money. These days the sum of R7m is an amount owned by many middle class taxpayers and the so-called bracket creep has not been adjusted.
I am not in the tax industry so I am not aware of the exact percentages which applied then and what they are now when in comes to the proportion on estates having to pay estate duty.
A budget is not all about taking but is also about treating the taxpayers fairly.

In civilised countries the government looks after the elderly, they don't mug them for more money. I've worked hard, paid taxes all my life, saved for my retirement and still I live in fear and dread because the government can just at will demand R5000 from me. I was OK with being mugged along the Liesbeek canal. I could fight off the mugger and live another day. And know in future to be more aware of potential attackers. There's nothing I can do about faceless, evil monsters in government. Mr Ramaphosa, if you want to take R5000 from an old lady, have the guts to appear at my door with a knife in your hand.

2. Government Spending
Cutting governments spending should be top priority.

1. End the deputy ministers, all of them. There are suitable staff in each department to deal with the the times that a minister is not available
2. Reduce the ministers' salaries to that of a general manager in a corporation in the private sectors. Ministers are not high-flying CEO's of billion-dollar multi-national corporations.
3. Stop lending for government projects. Government must only keep the playing field level, so to speak and ensure that there is redress if players don't play by the rules and an aggrieved party lays a charge.

You would to well to stick to there principles. Government spends way too much money and is not delivering the results.

Firstly remove all unqualified ministers, CEO's, mayors, city managers from their positions and replace them with qualified persons with experience in running those entities. 2) stop all unnecessary and fraudulent expenditure. Dismiss and prosecute people who cannot account for the money they are managing in the various departments. 3) investigate & prosecute anyone who is corrupt and has stolen tax payers money 4) ensure that everyone earning a salary, or running cash businesses earning above the threshold is contributing to the taxes. 5) allow more private sector companies access to provide for power and water infrastructure.

Get rid of deputy ministers and some ministers who are not working for the good of our country. Freeze salaries for members of parliament. They don’t deserve these high salaries because we don’t see things changing radically. It seems to be all talk and no action. Take away the overseas privileges of 5 star hotels. 3 stars would be adequate. Also use economy flights as the general populace travels that way. The very expensive cars and “blue light” privileges are generally not warranted. People seeing the lavish lifestyles of these ministers really turns the stomach in view of the poverty of a large number of our citizens. Put more of the budget towards policing, infrastructure and education. All needed desperately.

South Africa should prioritise economic growth instead of increasing the tax burden on households. Stabilise SOEs through private sector partnerships, performance-based management and fully transparent procurement processes. Reduce wasteful government spending and limit wage bill growth while prioritising infrastructure investment in energy, water and logistics to support long-term economic growth.

The tax burden on households and businesses is already high, so government should avoid further increases and instead broaden the tax base through job creation, support for small and medium enterprises, and economic expansion. Reducing regulatory and compliance costs for businesses will help stimulate growth and improve revenue collection sustainably.

Municipal financial management must be strengthened through stricter national oversight of failing municipalities, minimum qualification requirements for financial managers, and ring-fencing infrastructure funds to ensure they are used for service delivery rather than administrative costs. Improved accountability and consequences for poor governance are essential to restore public trust and service delivery.

Government must also strengthen anti-corruption enforcement, ensure full transparency in public procurement, and take decisive action against misuse of public funds. Reducing corruption and waste will improve fiscal sustainability, increase efficiency in public spending, and free up resources for essential services and infrastructure.

Overall, budget priorities should focus on economic growth, infrastructure development, job creation, financial accountability and strong anti-corruption measures to improve revenue and reduce debt sustainably.

Sell the SEO's.
The government should not own businesses. They are an area that costs unnecessary money.

Destroy bureaucracy.
Destroy corruption.

Pay our debt off with natural resources.
Stop borrowing
Scrap all these taxes

8. Municipal finances
Please fix our municipalities. Especially how they were run by the previous government - that was the proper way to do things. That was the correct way to do things. The municipalities today in South Africa would be maintaining and doing so much better if there was better control. If this is not fixed, this will never, ever improve. And more people will have jobs and our roads will be well maintained and up to date. At the moment there is chaos for sure.

1) Debt costing taxpayers R1 billion plus daily. Reduce the debt, and the reduction in interest will reduce the need to raise taxes.
2) Reduce the cost of the cabinet. Especially the perks. Vehicle perks should not exceed R750 000. If cabinet ministers want a more luxurious vehicle, they must fund the difference out of their own huge salaries.
3) Spending R3.5 billion on VIP protection, including blue light brigades, is a travesty. Only the President and Vice-President should have these.
4) Allow incentives for businesses to employ and thereby reduce unemployment instead of tying them up with red tape. Taxing them 3% to fund black businesses will not help reduce unemployment, rather it will create more opputunities for corruption.

6. Tax revenues
I suggest we REDEFINE the concept of "sin taxes" and abandon the exclusive labeling of drinking and smoking as sinful pastimes, warranting punishing taxes. Of course, taken to excess, these things can become sinful, but let us look at some real sins that the vast majority of our people can objectively accept. I am talking about the sex trade! This industry is a blight on the moral fabric of our country and can only facilitate the moral collapse of our nation, especially as it concerns the family institution. We ned to discourage people from embracing the many pornographic offerings available and hit them where it hurts - in the pocket! A nation that loses its moral compass is fit for nothing. Why should a person who enjoys a drink be considered a "sinner" but someone splurging on "adult" entertainment of whatever kind - shops, videos, magazines, Clubs etc., is free to indulge their base disorderly passions?

I propose hefty taxes on the entire gamut of "adult entertainment!" This term is a complete misnomer as it is impossible to prevent such content from being accessed by impressionable youth. There is a chain of shops called "Luvland" peddling all kinds of "accessories" and playing on the wayward desires and fantasies of our fallen nature. These shops are coining it and should be taxed on these ill-gotten proceeds. Such shops, Clubs, magazines, videos, etc., selling "sin" should be singled out and made to pay for the consequences of this trade. Such consequences include child abuse/trafficking, family disintegration, and generalized moral collaspe.

Please, let's get our priorities right in this country and broaden our notion of "sin" and "sin taxes!"
