The unforeseen increases will result in us not being able to remain in our homes. Hopefully you yourself will be wearing the same shoes as usual residents. You should be ashamed. People who worked for all of their lives on a low income to be forced out of their homes due to love of money.

The unforeseen increases will result in us not being able to remain in our house, which is not fair as we carefully saved for our retirement all our working lives. We are doing our best to keep consumption of water and electricity to a minimum. Perhaps you can consider charging less for people our age (77 and 78).

Electricity is an essential resources. As it is now, it is almost unaffordable for most residents. People breach the meter boxes and use unauthorized methods to keep their lights on. Which creates a big risk in house holds.
I propose zero increments for this financial year.

Salary increases
Our city council wants to increase their salaries at the cost of the citizens, yet they deliver nothing in return. Potholes and water leaks remain unfixed for very long periods despite being reported, electricity is very expensive for those who are struggling just to feed their families and the municipality seems to care little for those under "their care". Corruption is rife especially under the current excuse for leadership.

All of the rates proposed are all above cpi sure to gross incompetence, corruption and over staffing. No actual maintenance of roads and lighting is taking place as the money is literally stolen after inflated salaries are paid. The value of the properties are stagnant due to a stagnant economy so this is completely unreasonable.

They should stop taking fat bonuses and start delivering the service they are paid for. They lost touch with reality. No service delivery and prices are now unaffordable.

t's time the Metro learns to have some fiscal discipline and understand that the residents are experiencing extreme financial pressure.
We don't have the luxury of just increasing our revenue, we are bound by the economy!
The Metro is hopelessly overstaffed and inefficient, leading to no proper service delivery.
So much money goes on unproductive salaries that nothing is left for the service delivery we are entitled to.
The fact that our electricity and water payments are not going to Eskom and Rand Water amounts to fraud and corruption.

My property rates went up by over 30%. In terms of the municipal by laws the municipality is supposed to send a professional valuator out to do a review before deciding on municipal valuations. We are an isolated gated community and no valuator has ever set foot in our estate. If they had they would know that due to our location in the middle of farm land, where the two 6 kilometer access roads are mostly ungraded dirt, and mostly under water or mud for several months of the year, and where only 1 property was sold in the previous 5 years, at a price lower than it was originally purchased for, such an increase is devoid of any factual basis. You just push the rates up because you need more money to feed your patronage networks. In addition, we get little to no value in terms of services for the rates we pay.

We are paying high property rates and have minimal service delivery. The residents cannot continue to fund poor (or no) service delivery. Officials and employees must be held accountable. The high increase in water and electricity is also unacceptable, with many residents unable to keep up with soaring costs. When will we get what we pay for?

Is the increase really going to resolves some of the issues we are facing or just to increase top tier salaries for the next 3 years?

Municipal staff are paid unrealistic salaries, especially since there is no service delivery. The city & suburbs look like slums with all the uncut bush, noxious weeds, thorns , squatters, litter, potholes, etc...........

How do we procure tenants with all these high tariffs. The property market will crash and businesses will fold immediately.

electricity has increased by over 30% for the past three years. Another increase will make electricity totally unaffordable. Secondly, the rates have been increased as well. On the other hand we hear that the municipality employees are have parties where massive amounts are spent on alcohol. The behaviour of the municipality is totally unacceptable.

As old age pensioners who live below the bread line already and are finding it difficult to meet day to day living...ourselves and others like us will be unable le to pay.

We are below the required income pm to meet the criteria for a SASSA grant which would help ...and we have tried for 2 years . We have been unsuccessful.

Please consider is and thousands of others like us.

We pay exorbitant rates for water and electricity, yet have failing systems. The municipality is failing its residents and should be cleaning up its internal problems before pushing on hefty increases. Residents should not be paying for Metsimaholo municipality's internal failings. Address fraud, corruption, misappropriation, overspending and underperforming staff (including municipality management), and there will be sufficient funds to run the municipality efficiently. Make staff accountable.

Why is there contractors having contracts and they do not clean, cut the grass and bushes properly. When the municipality use to clean and cut ,it was always done the proper way. Now nothing is being done about blogged storm water drains and keeping our areas clean. There are flies and mosquito's. How do we live like this. And they want up everything.
