No. The level of service that we receive is absolutely shocking. We simply CANNOT afford these increases. What are we even paying for? Water is always off, sanitation and pump houses are always overflowing and hardly maintained, electricity is already expensive, the garbage removal is shocking, on top of that, the municipal workers are CONSTANTLY ON STRIKE!

As a pensioner, any increase above CPI is unaffordable.

The Anc has failed South Africa, but not doing maintence on everything that they were handed over in working condition in 1994.
All they have done is loot and steal, inflate the amount of workers in cabinet that are incompetent and useless. All government institutions should be given a complete audit, for employee's needed, and the cadres and their families not adding to the growth of South Africa should be gotten rid of. How come other governments can operate on half the staff that South Africa's politicians do, members of cabnet ect. All perks and blue light brigades need to be cut, in order to fund the electrcity infrastructure that the Anc did not do. So now they need to pay up by reducing staff, salaries and perks, so the normal tax paying South African can live. Gravy train must come to an end. We the people have had enough. But not doing this the bubble is going to burst, as the people can not keep funding this corruption.

Why increase tariffs when service provided is tanking? We would then be rewarding bad work.

Water is always off, sanitation and pump houses are always overflowing and hardly maintained, electricity is already expensive, the garbage removal is shocking, on top of that, the municipal workers are CONSTANTLY ON STRIKE! So to recap, little to no services are provided, potholes everywhere, broken street lights, water wastage, and now they want to increase ALL of our bills? No. We shouldn't be paying the municipality the current tarrifs, because just about no services are rendered as is! Daylight robbery. We are all living on or under the breadline!

The new Cape Town City Budget is taxing people unfairly - based on the value of the property they own - These Rates having gone up due to demand for property in the city.
Those who dutifully pay their Rates bills are now being charged fixed service charges for water, electricity, sewerage and a NEW City wide cleaning fee - based on the value of their properties. While those that have not paid or could not pay their rates - have had their overdue bills cancelled. Hence those that care and pay are being penalised and exploited to make up for those that don't pay. As a pensioner on a limited own budget - I will be forced to sell. my home of many years as I wont be able to maintain it and pay the exorbitant 26% increase in my rates bill. Service fees should be the same for all - maybe with rebates for lower valued properties . The City Wide Cleaning Fee is unacceptable - and I do imagine was previously included in the Rates charged on properties. No discount has been given to compensate for double charging. The current Cape Town City Rates are unacceptable and devastating for many. They need a fair and unbiased re-evaluation to make them equitable to all residents of the city.

My concern is ALL OF THE ABOVE!

The stupendous economic cost of B-BBEE to our country, predominantly black in the first instance, and therefore not needing a ‘minority protection’ law for the mass majority (the only country in the world to do so), is one of many, almost unfathomable, political blunders by a communist indoctrinated and controlled cohort of a select brood of greedy, inconsiderate and self-serving idiots. Stupid does not come anywhere close to this sort of avarice and entitlement. History will rightly judge the perpetrators of this malevolent injustice to our nation at large, particularly the poor.
When we utilise existing tariffs correctly to deliver world-class services, breakdowns of service and extra costs will be radically reduced, thus releasing a surplus for self-funded infrastructure development and debt reduction with its commensurate interest burden. Absolutely NO salary increases, until debt is eliminated, and roads, water, electricity, sewerage, waste disposal, health facilities, clean parks and road verges, streetlighting and all other amenities are up to scratch, with signed off inspections and clean municipal audits!

Salary increases
There are NO service delivery in Tshwane, everything falls apart. Potholes are in their millions and filled up with sand. Tswhane is filthy and no wokers are seen to curt grass and clean open areas. Why must we keep paying more for these no delivery attitudes of emloyees that just want increases in their salaries but don't do the job they get paid for. Let EVERYONE start paying and not just certain people.

Costs are increasing beyond the ability of older residents to afford, with their limited income - if any. It would seem that in their quest for increased income, our city fathers are forcing older people out of their homes which they have had for many years. At eighty -one years old, why should I be forced out of my home in which I have happily lived for thirty-seven years, by beaurocratic bungling and greed, especially when services have gone up the spout and down the drain?

All the municipal rates increases are extortionate and will not benefit ratepayers. Johannesburg is in a mess because our money is not being used correctly. Corruption is rife in our municipalities and the increases will just be added to the feeding trough of corrupt leaders.

Property rates
Why are the municipalities not developing vacant land and subdivide the land and sell it off to increase there income instead of just increasing rates and taxes without delivering any services and where infra structure is falling apart and not maintaines.
No initiatives from Joburg to generate income. Their only way of thinking is how to increase rates, solar, etc to sustain their permanent thirst for higher salaries.
Municipalities were always there to develop new suburbs. Install infra structure, subdivide parcels of land and sell them to create income. What happened to this. Or is this too much work for them?
