2025-06-14 10:59:35 +02:00 | Annette | No I do not | Salary increases | We all know that Government owned and managed bodies are mismanaged by lazy and incompetent people! In the old days we got an increase if we performed above average!! Not just annually wheter we work ed or not! We were inspired to work harder to get more money than some of our lazy colleagues! Do ALL of these workers deserve an increase (and such a ridiculously high one) NO DEFINATELY NOT!! Also we should keep in mind that the guy at the top gets more money every time the workers get increase. After all he IS the Boss even though he does not have a clue what he is doing!! SO sad! SO unproductive, SO detrimental for out country’s future!! And most fellow countrymen are clueless of what this Government is doing. But so is our Goverment!

2025-06-14 10:03:20 +02:00 | Les | Fernridge | No I do not | Salary increases | I'm aware that municipal employee's salary increases are negotiated annually via SALGA and the unions, notably SAMWU. For the past ten or more years, these increases have been consistently above inflation (with added perks). This cannot go on. Ratepayers, particularly pensioners, simply cannot afford repetitive, above annual inflation municipal employees' salary increases. The "man-in-the-street" has not received salary increases of the same magnetude and cannot keep subsidising municipal employees, year after year. George municipality must claim exemption from SALGA wage increases. |
2025-06-14 09:50:34 +02:00 | Yusuf | No I do not | Property rates | The DA led city of Cape Town must stop thinking we are a European country. The majority of Capetonians won't be able to cope should this budget go ahead. Also charging any additional levies and increases in rates will further worsen the already economic crisis & situation most of us Capetonians already are struggling to cope with post COVID . In addition the da coct keep on not adhering to what is set out in our Municipal Finances Act with regards to service delivery at a local government level. Therefore the current budget proposal should be set aside as it not only will be anti poor plus disadvantage the majority of us as Cape Town residents, but it too will go against the rules of the municipal finances act of the powers afford to the DA led city of Cape Town.....as we shouldn't have to be paying an arm and a leg for basic human rights and needs such as housing, water and sanitation, electricity, safety and security to name a few . On the IDP if it can better infrastructure development in the disadvantaged communities here only then can it proceed but if not then it should too be set aside. As history has shown only the more affluent areas and the Cape Town CBD here have benefitted from the IDP . Finally please listen to our needs on the ground rather than what suits your political and donor sponsors interests. Kind regards

2025-06-13 20:25:01 +02:00 | Karlien | Pretoria east | No I do not | Electricity | One can not only have one concern, ALL the named points is a concern. In 30 years nò maintenance was done, therefore the flooding. Look at the roads, see how filthy is our city. Traffic cops are nowhere to be seen during peak hours. Millions were spent on new vehicles for them. Taxis and other are driving recklessly but nothing happens to them. Don't even talk about water and electricity...even if CTMM do not provide the service, you are still billed fully. Absurd. And still the salaries are inreased but the services decrease. |

2025-06-13 13:46:12 +02:00 | Moira | Kenmare ext 4 | No I do not | Property rates | The new property valuations are unrealistic. I could never sell my house for the amount of the municipal valuation. Added to that, the huge increase in rates and I simply can't afford to live in my house any more and don't know where to go! It's an impossible situation. |
2025-06-13 13:03:41 +02:00 | Thelma | Universitas | No I do not | Other | Electricity rates, water rates, property rates, sewage rates, removal of refuge and salaries is totally out of hand. Can't you see that since 2019/2020 COVID everyone is struggling and the Mangaung Municipality is just making everything worse. Service delivery is worst. First improve on service delivery before looking at any increase. A year on hold, will make it easier for users in any case, because users have to make use and pay external people, while municipality workers is working ridiculous overtime on Saturdays and Sundays. |

2025-06-13 10:11:52 +02:00 | Alvin | No I do not | Other | The City of Cape Town has an unspent budget That needs to be re- invested into the budget for growth , expenditure and entrepreneural ventures that would generate income To supplement the current fiscal status. Also unnecessary expenditure by the municipality needs to be cut down. For example - the accommodating and integration of foreigners into Cape Town society needs to be halted with immediate effect

2025-06-12 21:44:23 +02:00 | Carmy | Germiston | No I do not | Other | There is no option for all of the above. Every single one of the proposed budgets should be revised. Ministers should be reduced, ministers salaries reduced. Address the income tax bracket creep. It is not fair to keep on squeezing the last cent out of the citizens when there is no real plan to make up the defecit and the corruption keeps winning. The rate of inflation should be used as a yardstick for rate calculations. |
2025-06-12 21:08:43 +02:00 | Victoria | No I do not | Property rates | The increase is outrageously expensive, as an old person, with no income due to Covid decimation of self employed status, stuck with 2 properties in 2 districts and refused any assistance from either municipality, the abusive overcharging, over valuation and crippling debt escalation in costs is reason for complete denigration of my citizen right to decency. Developers should pay to upgrade infrastructure, not ratepayers. The padding of developers pockets at the ratepayers cost is pure theft.

2025-06-12 17:45:29 +02:00 | Carel | Not fully | Other | The Phokwane municipality has been in a "highjacked by ANC corruption" status for years now. Mismanaged, unmanaged, defrauded, corrupted FOR YEARS! Increases are not going to fix the problems as it will only further the sad state of affairs. There should be MASSIVE salary cuts (especially at the top) and a clamp down on the corruption and mismanagement to remove the rotten apples. Phokwane does not need more money, it needs new management.
2025-06-12 16:55:47 +02:00 | M | Panorama | No I do not | Property rates | The minority keeps funding the rest of the country. It is basically impossible to survive on pensioner’s income let alone having surviving yet another property tax increase. How many times over must we pay for a property we already own? It is evil. |

2025-06-12 16:13:17 +02:00 | Liz | No I do not | Other | It is difficult to understand why the municipalities of the country are, in no way, being held accountable for their disgraceful and poor management. The majority of the staff employed are clueless and of doubtful qualifications.
2025-06-12 14:56:36 +02:00 | Oloff | Parel Vallei | No I do not | Property rates | Its unlawful to link service charges to the value of property and highly discriminatory to middle class and higher not to mention the year on year inflationary impact on the proposed decision. Its also illogical not have property rates adjust to the natural inflation of home values. |
2025-06-12 13:44:38 +02:00 | john | No I do not | Property rates | Just reading about 'government' corruption and waste, they need to solve those problems before asking us for an increase. What is bloody unfair is that you get a rate for your house/plot etc and as soon as you upgrade it or add on to it they up your rates. So where on earth do they come from with you (the owner) spend the money to upgrade and we will charge you extra for the upgrade that you did. In fact the governments world wide need to be booted out and we the people need to set up our own ELECTED officials that know your town etc and will work for you or be kicked out
2025-06-12 13:02:34 +02:00 | Gavin | Alberton | No I do not | Electricity | Above cpi increase rates. The south african middle class is being destroyed. We are the tax base of this country. This country is already bankrupt. |
