2026-05-15 16:50:11 +02:00 | Tumelo | No I do not | State Interference in Religious Ethics and Doctrine | You cannot control and regulate African Indigenous Spiritual, why does CRL wants to control African Indigenous Spirituality and religion? CRL should find better things to do, not regulating things that cannot be regulated. How can you regulate spirituality?

2026-05-15 16:48:34 +02:00 | Chris | No I do not | All of the above | Constitutional Violation & Conditional Rights | Government has absolutely no right to dictate to anyone's religion. Interference in anyone's religion is totally against our Constitution and basic human rights. Our current laws are quite adequate. |

2026-05-15 16:44:26 +02:00 | Craig | No I do not | All of the above | Constitutional Violation & Conditional Rights | The Constitution should be the blueprint for any laws that are proposed. Freedom of religion is one of the non-negotiable points in our constitution. |
2026-05-15 16:44:07 +02:00 | Gerda | No I do not | Constitutional Violation & Conditional Rights | This proposal potentially violates Section 15 (freedom of religion and conscience), Section 18 (freedom of association), and Section 31 (the right of religious communities to govern themselves) of the Constitution . Freedom of religion and association are fundamental rights, not state-licensed privileges.

2026-05-15 16:44:02 +02:00 | Ilzé | No I do not | Dangerous Precedent for All Civil Society (The Wildcard) | Why is it that the State want to meddle in our religious affairs suddenly. The police and military cannot ever handle the violent out there. Now suddenly they want them to assist in church affairs. This is just a way to open the door to our Constitution. Once they have there piggy fingers in the church, it will be short period before we have no Constitution .
2026-05-15 16:43:46 +02:00 | Christina | No I do not | All of the above | State Interference in Religious Ethics and Doctrine | No Government or human has the right to interfere with the creator of all things. The one true living God! Why don't you try target Hinduism, buddhism, islam and or every other religion out there. The only one you find issue with is Christianity???? Well emotions and anger aside, you absolutely have no right to dictate the word of God or have say on the teachings of this sacred and Holy book and the living word within it. Keep your hand off our churches! |

2026-05-15 16:39:54 +02:00 | Petrus | No I do not | All of the above | Constitutional Violation & Conditional Rights | The regulation of personal beliefs is not a state matter and a huge over reach as no political party campaings supporting this matter! Further, it remains PERSONAL and if it is to regulate the abuse of citizens by individuals under the guize of any religion or belief to self enrich, abuse followers and citizens, I believe there are sufficient laws to regulate this intrusion and abuse of individuals and groups. Like investigating fraud or corruption because it is nothing else but a form of fraud, corruption or manipulation. Why are the laws and regulations governing illegal foreigners not applied more strictly? It is believed most cases of "religious" fraud is undertaken by foreigners who flee the country when "found out", discovered or exposed. The state must serve the people and not regulate, protect and shield but not prescribe. Why are witch doctors, sangomas and other pagan belief systems not targeted as well, siganling out christian beliefs. |
2026-05-15 16:39:33 +02:00 | Malcolm | No I do not | All of the above | Constitutional Violation & Conditional Rights | This proposal is nothing more than the existing Government Structures trying to control every facet of a person's life and beliefs. The proposal is unworkable because standards and beliefs vary from person-to-person and "which standard or belief is acceptable" is open to wide interpretation. In addition, the cost of such a regulation body would be prohibitive, and the costs incurred would be far better spent in strengthening the enforcement of existing laws and regulations through better policing and more active prosecution of offenders. |

2026-05-15 16:37:27 +02:00 | Hein | No I do not | State Interference in Religious Ethics and Doctrine | The State should not be empowered to oversee or limit in any way my freedom to worship my God wherever and however I choose. That is my very basic right to religious freedom.
2026-05-15 16:37:10 +02:00 | AS | No I do not | State Interference in Religious Ethics and Doctrine | This proposed bill is concerning. Many churches and synods have their own governance and systems overseeing ethical conduct, sound doctrine etc. It is concerning that there are churches that does not have such bodies and regulations, and that need to be addressed. But to have all churches adhere to these government-imposed regulations is a violation of the freedom of religion, speech and association. |

- Standardising Accountability:
Proponents argue the framework is essential to establish clear standards for internal governance, financial transparency, and ethical leadership within religious organisations to restore public trust. - Protecting the Vulnerable:
The initiative aims to safeguard marginalised communities, including the poor and those with disabilities, from exploitation and harmful “healing” practices. - Sector-Led Reform:
The Committee describes the process as a voluntary, proactive initiative “by the Church, for the Church,” allowing the sector to govern itself rather than facing direct State intervention. - Independent Oversight:
Supporters emphasise that the proposed Christian Practice Council for Ethics and Accountability (CPCEA) would be an independent body of respected religious leaders and experts, not a government department.
- Standardising Accountability:

- The Legislative “Mask”:
Critics contend that while the process is labeled “voluntary,” the intended outcome is a statutory council created by an Act of Parliament with the legal authority to deregister institutions. - The “Four Uns”:
Opponents argue the proposal is Unconstitutional (violating freedom of religion), Unnecessary (existing laws already cover crimes like fraud and assault), Unworkable, and Unaffordable. - Regulation of “Ethics”:
There is concern that moving beyond criminal law to regulate “unethical conduct” allows the State to intrude into subjective matters of belief, doctrine, and private conscience. - The “Wildcard” Precedent:
Critics warn that establishing a State-enabled council for religion sets a legal precedent that could be used to justify similar government oversight of all civil society sectors, including the press and NGOs.
- The Legislative “Mask”:
