Promotion of Access to Information Amendment Draft Bill, 2019

Government has asked the public to say yes or no or provide input to a PAIA amendment.

2701 active citizens have provided input in this, so far. Have your say below.

The amendment proposes to allow information on the private funding of political parties and independent candidates to be recorded, preserved and made publicly available. However, there are a few concerns – see summary.

Important to note; By using DearSA’s policy-shaping interface you ensure an accurate record is held by civil society so government cannot dispute participation facts or figures and forms a solid foundation for a legal case should the necessity arise. This is a legally protected public policy-shaping process mandated in the SA Constitution. It is not a petition. Your input is immediately sent to government and must, by law, be individually acknowledged and considered. Had this been a petition, all input would be grouped as a single submission.

Yes I do
I agree that the public should have access to these records, however I do not feel that it is necessary to be published on social media, records should be kept and available on request.
Yes I do
There must be transparency in everything that is happening to eliminate corruption that kills our country
Yes I do
It must be a open policy and should not be a secret. Secrets is there to protect corruption.
