There are other much more important issues to attend to. In my opinion this is just another ANC tender, income generator. What's next.... a new vehicle number plate system, or renaming all towns and streets etc., etc. Let's spend money that uplifts this country and its infrastructure. Let's help the poor, let's support opportunities, let's create equal opportunities for all, let's support each other. Let's become a better nation.
A corrupt government wanting more, it must stop.

I wish to remain free to make decisions about my own body & health as I see fit.
I wish to remain free to do business & travel without being forced to take a vaccine which I do not need & is potentially harmful to my health!

The government has prove to be corrupt and incompetent in every sphere and everything that it does and attempts. In no way can't the this government be trusted with this invasion of privacy.

I am totally against this draft.
I still believe in freedom and this sounds very tyrannical to me and power thirsty.

There is nothing wrong with the present system. Not everyone can afford to get new I.D. documents again. Eg. The old and the unemployed , and what about the orphans?

This is a massive undertaking and Government is already battling to issue the new smart ID cards for people who are already in the system, with the green barcoded ID book. Staff will need time to be properly trained on the new system and the IT systems will need to be suitable and thoroughly and robustly tested too before rollout. Government doesn’t have a stellar track record with regard to implementing these kinds of projects.

Linking ID to parents is all good and well but what about abandoned babies if the SAPS cannot find the mother or father? How will the confidentiality of adoptions be handled? The “how” needs a lot more debate and input vs the wish list we have at the moment.

My understanding is that all births and deaths are currently required to be registered. How will changing the whole system fix that if people aren’t currently complying? How will this address dishonesty on the part of Home Affairs officials with regard to identity theft, women discovering they’re married to foreign nationals and the like?

We need to be careful of creating additional layers of bureaucracy that can actually work against us. Simple systems are generally more robust and not as easy to circumvent. The more complicated something is the greater the chance of things going wrong or exploitable loopholes being created.

This country is broke. We cannot afford any new expenses put in place right now. With more dodgy tenders and more theft of taxpayers money. Stop looking to line your pockets when there is NO MONEY IN THE COFFERS

Its a waste of time and money. Fix the system we have, don't make everyone have to apply ago. Home affairs is a mess just trying to get anything done as is. Noone wants to have to redo everything. Just stop wasting money and fix what you already have.

The existing system will work fine if the department got rid of the cadres and employed properly skilled people. There is no need for a new system, which will only open up more avenues for corruption. It is a total waste of money that could only have been deviously concocted by the corrupt anc.

Home affairs is already a department lacking the ability to cope
I dread to think how a roll out of the system will be handled

Secondly
We are in financial problems brought on by Covid lockdown and corrupt officials
The money needs to go to the people not to me ids

Do we even realize people have no food have lost their jobs homes
Schooling is a shambles

To even propose something like this now just goes to show the government has no clue what is happening to its man on the street and or does not care about us

This is just another way to waste tax payers hard earned money, some BEE company will get the tender and stuff it up, just not acceptable to have the ID system changed every few years.

Adds no value to the live of citizens;
-Current administration can't get done what they are currently mandated to do;
-Adds layers of red-tape and bureaucracy and thus additional costs to the taxpayer that the country can ill-afford;
-Far more important administrative issues to tackle that will add far more real value to citizens' lives. Rather focus on those issue, and get the current problems and shortcomings sorted before trying to change systems that have been designed to work and work well - sure there are improvements that could be implemented, but the current processes (primarily staff skills and existing bottlenecks) require fixing, before implementing changes that will never be able to be implemented using the current staff, skill set, and broken systems/processes.
-This is a joke, right? Existing H/A offices can't provide the offered services owing to the systems being down, or run out of paper, or the printer is broke, or some other lame reason - now you want them to have fingerprint scanners and iris scanners capturing information into a database by a system that cannot work owing to a lack of electricity, or because the only individual with the necessary skill to operate the equipment (that is broken) is on maternity leave for the next several months - get a grip and get the existing systems and processes working before trying to introduce more requirements to add to the existing requirements, which the current administration has no chance of implementing anyway - I can only make the assumption that this is a parody site, given the recommendations suggested.

There is nothing wrong with the currrent model of ID numbers. If a person cannot decide to which toilet he must go to, he should take off his underwear and check.

Our Department of Home Affairs keeps changing their systems and protocols. Nothing they do ever lasts longer than 6 months. Why implement new procedures if you can't follow through. The long lines at the offices don't help either. In order to make changes, simple guidelines need to be adhered too. They can't even capture simple data. It's just another way to waste our money.

The Government of this country is known for corruption and crime. This is just another ploy to steal tax payers money. They don't need my biometrics or my children's biometrics. Just another opportunity for fraud and data leaks.
