Why do we need to add to it? It was comprehensive enough as it was. Why do you feel the need to eat a rhinoceros, or a peacock or a kangaroo? I mean honestly...that is why all these odd diseases and pandemics are popping up...because we're eating things that should not be eaten.

I do not support this draft by government. Wild animals should be able to live out their lives without the fear of being captured and slaughtered, it is just another name for poaching. If we spent this energy on humane practices when it comes to cattle, sheep chickens etc. we wouldn't have to go to these lengths. We also know that these mass slaughters whether controlled or not have a negative impact on our environment with excessive amounts of water that is needed during the slaughtering process. I think this is an excuse to make more money ie money and greed over living beings, which I'm sure you can agree is inhumane. And if that doesn't make sense, maybe we should consider the global impact that covid 19 has had which stems from eating wildlife.

The current pandemic should alert us that this change in legislation is disastrous! And South Africa can't control current legislation, never mind expanding to include all these other species. Why are kangaroos on the list??? A definite NO! We are becoming savages and animals are suffering to support our greed.

As Humans, we need LESS meat, not more. Moreover, I am in total disagreement with Nature getting a smaller and smaller slice of the available landscape when we are so dependent as humans on Natural Resources. We should be expanding conserved areas, and expanding herds of wild animals to what they approximated before MAN came along ....to ensure the health of the planet , its biodiversity and our OWN ability to survive. To simply be exploiting these animals for anthropogenic purposes is to lose our sense of purpose. Can our government not see this?? Mans appetite is insatiable because we subscribe to the conecpt of GREED!! None of these animals takes more than it needs from the planet, and why do we need animal protein more than once a month. Why does anyone need powdered Rhino horn or an elepahnt tusk ornament??? There may be some sense in eating animals that are better adapted to the SA habitat than sheep and cattle, but these have been licensed in the MSA already??? NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO to this amendment....

As a Human species I find it disgusting that we would like to destroy Nature in it,s entirety due to our greed and Gluttony. We know we are destroying the Earth but we continue to slaughter animals and what I find unacceptable is I listen to communities and in shops and they refer to the meat in a way that indicates that most people believe that meat is grown on trees . Yet most of those who eat meat have never slaughtered a animal themselves and should they do so, I can assure you they will not eat meat anymore.
Absolutely disgusting the way we tend to legalize these activities as if it is our right.

I hope that people will start understanding physics and realize that we are made up of the same dust and life given to a animal is the same life given to a human the only difference is the human mind has been given the choice of thought. That does not mean that we have the choice to destroy life if it is not deemed to be human. The interpretation made by man to compartmentalize other beings is just not acceptable. We are now allowing Government and private sector that through time look at other beings as products as if they are growing these. Just from a environmental aspect we already have too many Cattle in the world and this is already causing havoc globally with the effect that they have on the climate.
But we want to increase our slaughter of innocent animals. totally unacceptable .

This is absolutely ludicrous. Have you no moral end-point? Is there nothing that you will stop at to completely rape and plunder this country. All we have LEFT is our wildlife, and now you want to legalise eating that too.

Given the recent COVID pandemic it is evident that we should be looking at conserving wildlife and not adding it to the pot! It is scandalous to even consider adding more wild animals to this new list instead of looking at reducing the existing list. I think the words “nature conservation” and protecting “biodiversity” are not in the South African dictionary, what a shame to see this beautiful country going daily from bad to worse, and destroying it’s potential constantly.

Remove wild animals as well as endangered species. Stop this disregard for wild animals like Rhinos Lions Elephants etc. This is barbaric and stupid

This is unacceptable and should be cancelled immediately. These animals are not for consumption under any circumstances.

Considering the possible outcomes, I completely fail to understand any reasonable logic in this draft amendment. One has to wonder what the real agenda is behind it.

We are currently facing mass extinctions of the diversity and ecological balances that makes the earth function. The warmer climate coupled with the close contact between humans and wild animals make the potential for more pandemics inevitable.
I am unequivocally against this legislation , it is like opening Pandora’ s box.

Wildlife is wild and should not be classified or adapted to agricultural livestock. This is criminal and will affect tourism which provides a large amount of revenue for our country.
If wildlife is eaten into extinction then we will have lost our heritage.
Farming lions elephants and giraffe for human consumption is both cruel and dangerous as animals can transmit disease when eaten.
