CITY OF EKURHULENI DRAFT LAND USE SCHEME

Dear Residents, please follow the link below to download the proposed Ekurhuleni land use scheme and read it and if there are issues which concern you, please submit comments accordingly.

It has potential to change the face of our suburbs by including, work and metal working as a home enterprise, and making it possible to operate taverns, spaza and coffee shops from residential 1 properties under a consent use application.

These recommendations have been justified in order to promote economic development in the face of the collapsing South African economy and resultant high unemployment making it possible to generate extra income from one’s home.

Important to note; This is a legally protected public policy-shaping process mandated in the SA Constitution. By using DearSA’s platform you ensure an accurate record is held by civil society (so government cannot dispute participation facts or figures) which forms a solid foundation for a legal case should the necessity arise. It is not a petition. Your input is immediately sent to government and must, by law, be individually acknowledged and considered. Had this been a petition, all input would be grouped as a single submission.

The main objection is an uncontrolled noise factor from metal work and noise from taverns

Zoning for businesses is done with a reason. Peaceful living is vital and this will disturb the living areas. In Kempton Park a shebeen opened up next to old ladies house unlawfully. She sat night after night listening to load music and in dear as drunk people shouted and fought next to her bedroom window. The police did not help her. If this law is passed do they think the police will then even think of assisting as it is
by law approved. Children and woman willnot be safe. This us a big no from me.
