2. Government Spending
Cut ministers salaries by half. Raises should be based on performance.

Remove SOE subsidies and government subsidies. Government officials serve the people of their countries and should experience the same level of life.

Spend money on education. Upgrade teacher training and learner education. Education forms the basis of common sense, knowledge, discipline and accountability. The emphasis of any budget should be education.

Upgrade infrastructure and repair neglected infrastructure.

Educate the members of the SAPS in public relations and basic law. They are not a private army.

Get rid of corruption and theft , then use the same money to reduce debt. The government wage bill needs reducing .not increasing. Senior government officials are grossly overpaid and need to be incentive based.
Run the government like a serious private business and we can succeed.
These comments relate to finances and not the whole of government

3. Addressing a large budget deficit
There is a great need in the healthcare institutions. Costs are rising every year but their budgets are not matching the rise - patients are not being adequately looked after in state hospitals and clinics, an example in case is the unavailability of stoma bags and products for stoma patients in the Eastern Cape.

1. Gov must stop spending millions for the upkeep of foreign prisoners in jail. This is taxpayer's money, some coming from the victims. They must be deported & declared undesirable. Should they come back again & be incarcerated, their friends/ families must bring them food. Consider bringing back death penalty instead of Rm spent on hardened unrepentant criminals.
2. Stop appointing comrades with no qualifications who don't know what to do.
3. Reduce the bloated cabinet & the perks to create jobs for unemployed doctors & graduates.
4. Qualified engineers to fix & maintain drainage system to avoid spending money on disasters that could have been avoided. Climate change is also a reality that can't be ignored.
5. Do away with R350 grant & rather give coupons. People drink this money. Create responsible citizens.
6. Appoint more police & Metro police.
7. Foreigners buying property in SA to pay more taxes.

Corruption, theft and overspending. The ANC needs to stop stealing all the money. It’s quite simple really.

CUT our leaders' massive income & expenditure every year!!!
Leaders have run our country like a business, not like a private income. That is why there is no money for the basic needs in our country.

The budget should prioritise reducing spending on government staff costs and state wellfare to ensure we maintain a budget surplus and allocate funding to infrastructure. So I want to see a removal of all deputy ministers, reduce the number of ministries and reduce the perks and benefits (reduced blue light benefits, reduced travel etc..) at the top to lead the way by setting an example. It is unacceptable that a small country like SA has so many ministers and deputies.

Investing in infrastructure will be most effective if the government breaks up and sells all state owned enterprises to encourage private sector participation and investment. By all means retain a minority stake to benefit from the upside but this should be housed in an asset management vehicle reporting to the treasury. These assets should be making money for the country not costing it.

Discontinue the SRD grant, it was meant to be a temp measure and must be stopped. Rather focus on creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive so that there will be jobs instead of grants available.

Stop this health insurance nonsense. It will fail as has been seen in many developed countries where their budgets are significantly larger. The private healthcare sector in SA should be praised and protected. They have built something that works. Rather look at interventions that will bring costs down within the existing ecosystem.

The primary goal should be to create more jobs, not through the state but through businesses, especially in the SME segment. This requires business confidence and investment. So remove BEE requirements, provide business friendly tax incentives, reduce business red-tape and relax labour laws.

These interventions are well documented and have been proven to increase business confidence, providing a catalyst for private investment which when combined with increased government infrastructure spending will dramatically change the shape of our beautiful country's economy for the better.

Examples we should aim to copy: Singapore, Poland and Argentina. The first two economies started on the same level or smaller than SA 30 years ago and now their people and their economies are prospering. Argentina is a recent example, and will take a few years for the changes to take root but already you can see the seismic shift in business confidence and increased foreign investment.

My suggestions are as follows
1. Reduce the size of Cabinet to half and get rid of all deputy ministers
2. Reduce the number of personnel of the security for ministers
3. Privatise all SOE's
4. Privatise the Water Board and Eskom

2. Government Spending
The goverment sector is filled with overpaid, uneducated people. Most just there for the paycheck and couldn't give a crap about the country, economy, or servixe delivery. Zero motivation or accountability for not doing their job.

Cut the coat according to the cloth. Cut government spending to fit tax revenues. This will inspire confidence, investment and growth will follow. It is not the quick fix, but the sure path to prosperity for our future. At the moment the tail is wagging the dog.

Boosting national production and making government efficient are the main goals a nation should aim for and what to do are:

# Get rid off of progressive tax and assign one fixed tax percentage on income to everyone which will be a maximum of 20%.

#SOE must be privatise because it is well known that the private sector survival depends on efficiency, effectiveness and for it make sure to provide good quality services and products.

#Encouraging competition and it starts with the point stated above and by allowing foreign companies to enter the market freely by eliminating BEE barriers and things of the sorts.

6. Tax revenues
South Africa does not face an income problem; it faces a spending and accountability problem. State-owned entities continue to destroy value instead of generating it, while repeated adverse municipal audits result in no meaningful consequences or recovery of lost funds. Rather than addressing these structural failures, government increasingly relies on fiscal drag to close the gap, effectively raising taxes on a shrinking, compliant tax base. This approach punishes productivity and erodes trust. I urge National Treasury to prioritise expenditure reform, accountability, and the rationalisation or privatisation of failing SOEs, and to repair fiscal drag by restoring full inflation adjustments to personal income tax brackets.
