How can they even think they deserve any increase based on their utterly poor service delivery. They have been pathetic to say the least. Very unprofessional, not effective at all and terrible at performance. They should be replaced not receive a salary increase.

The service we receive from rlm is not up to standard!The water and electricity supply are not reliable!The roads are in a bad state!Everything is falling apart!You don’t know where to drive as the roads are not marked properly!Stop signs are non existent!The list goes on!We are without water now for 5 days!Rlm only works at night because then they get overtime!Our street lamps are not working for more than 5 years!You can only milk the cow until their is no milk left!

I am a pensioner on a fixed income how can I afford to pay more as it is I am having to eat less and less and being a diabetic how do I survive. I have now become anaemic. Every week something goes up in essential items we are living under stress all the time. There is no way forward for pensioners.

The services are appalling. There is always sewerage flowing somewhere in the town, potholes take months to repair, and now we are expected to pay increased rates for incompetence. Work that is done is usually only on weekends so workers that should do this in the week are often being paid double for weekend work.

Buffalo City has some of the highest Rates in the country, it should firstly never have been made a Metro, King William’s Town is a separate City….remove the Metro status and reduce salaries accordingly. Then bring the rates down accordingly.

Just take a drive in the suburbs….the house are turning to wreck and ruin as owners can’t afford to maintain their homes because they are being taxed to death….

In all areas (rates, water, etc.) it is just extortion as the previous money was stolen and now infrastructure is crumbling but we have to pay more instead of those who stole being prosecuted and their assets attached and sold to give back to the country

Cape Town's municipality is largely very well managed. However, the existing Rates hikes have hit us very hard this last year - especially the increase in Property Rates. A proposed increase of 33% on Electricity is also hectic. Our Water, Lights & rates Bill has now become our biggest bill, after our Bond, and we are not making it through the month financially, without borrowing from family, in spite of making many efforts to reduce electricity & water consumption. If it hits us, as working individuals, how concerningly this impact the elderly & poorer communities.

They can not even keep a street light burning and if it does it burns 24/7. Need I say more? Same goes for water leaks, Traffic lights, POTHOLES etc. etc. etc. NO INCREASE, NO RATE HIKES...... IF WE DONT MAINTAIN THE SIDEWALK IT BECOMES A BUSH. The roads we drive on and side walks are from the apartheid era SO, what have they done with all that money? Rates is rates but why taxes? I bought this property cash, PAID TAX and VAT on every thing, JUSTIFY TAXES. I would not have received my title deed if all was not paid in full WHY?WHY? WHY? I DONT EVEN KNOW THE PEOPLE THAT CLAIMS TO MY mayor or ward counselor, 10 YEARS NOW . Where is my money going? Come have a look at the street I live in and LOPWER rates and taxes until all is fixed and then adjust the rates. 3 CROWE STREET, De MIST, UITENHAGE. i AM AWAITING YOUR VISIT. Ps. read the News paper warning people about the water of which the price are to be increased

Increases on all utilities and rates should be based on CPI increases. The April CPI is currently at 2.8%.
Increases in excess of CPI are becoming increasing unaffordable for citizens.
Citizens should not have to pay for loss of finances at municipalities, due to corruption, incompetence, inefficiencies and wasteful expenditure.

Property rates are astronomical in the City of Cape Town... unfortunately those who have properties as rental or Airbnb are gaining . There are those of us who have to live in our property and do not make / earn what they are making by doing this.

Electricity is also crazy as you pay tax on the prepaid units you purchase and then when you get the rates account you are paying tax on the prepaid units again.

All the fields are top concerns, but that salary increases are even mentioned is more than ridiculous!! Very few have any idea what they are supposed to be doing, and infrastructure is deteriorating at an alarming rate. It is ridiculous to increase tariffs for "services" that are not rendered or are rendered in such a manner that it's not worthwhile. It is true that electricity and water becomes more expensive, but the municipality does not need to capitalise on the increases by increasing their profits.
