All of these costings should not be increasing that much with the current non delivery and the current economic climate in South Africa.

Municipal services has declined dramatically, not fixing the potholes, not maintaining the pavements etc, so how are we to except an increase if we received a decrease in services?

I have no confidence that increasing these tariffs will result in better service delivery. Solve the wasted expenditure problems first to gain confidence and support again from citizens

The City of Cape Town is holding us ransom with these exorbitant increases on Property Rates, water. Sewage, refuse collection and Electricity increases. Most households are already overburdened. To link this all to the value of one’s property is ridiculous and unheard of. The city is lining its own pockets and ensuring they are fine and delivering a service that is getting worse. I totally disagree with the way this is being handled as I feel this is criminal what they are doing. Why is a water levy still being collected. I am paying for 2 electricity prepaid meters before I even put in electric. The only way this City will feel is when the Municipal elections are held and they don’t get my vote.

We are pensioners and have no income so how can we pay these unnecessary extra bills. Cape Town is getting ridiculous with these bill prices going up and getting too expensive to live.

Less people are working in SA and therefore less people are paying taxes. The minority in SA cannot keep up with the increases. Lots of corruption is also applicable and South Africans cannot pay for the fraudsters actions!

Salary increases
Far too high salaries and too many people doing nothing. Less people can do the work if they all do what is expected from them.60— 70% of budget goes to salaries ?????? What a joke and then they do nothing. Less people , lower salaries means more money available from budget , no reason to up tariffs .

All the prices are going up, salaries either become less or stay the same. How are we going to manage all price hikes ? How in the world will the elderly manage to pay more when they only get sassa?

It is not the Jo'burg residents fault at all that the City of Jo'burg is so bankrupt because the City council leaders, management & employees have been siphoning off, abusing & misusing the residents taxes that they pay to the council each month. This is entirely the City Jo'burg's 100% fault and they are to be blamed and to be held responsible & liable for this huge corrupt & very inept problem.
Instead of just keeping on with the exorbitant property rates, utilities, electricity and water increases year on year on the residents, how about the Jo'burg City council streamline their very bloated and inflated council that has far too many employees whose so-called jobs are not warranted at all and this situation is crippling the Jo'burg council leading to bankruptcy because of the council's very high salaries and wages that are just very unfairly eating away at the Jo'burg City council's municipal coffers. Throw out the useless and unproductive leaders & management as well as the too many employees who are not doing an honest day's work in the council, then the Jo'burg council will not need to continually & exorbitantly increase property rates, utilities, water & electricity costs each and every year that the residents are struggling to pay up each month because of so much unemployment and the many high costs of living that all just keep on going up and up. Look at the terrible downfallen state the City of Jo'burg is in and this speaks volumes of the huge corruption & ineptitude going on in the Jo'burg City council as well as the terrible mismanagement & non-performance of the Jo'burg City council leaders, management & the far too many employees. What a very shocking & disgusting scenario this is for the whole of the Jo'burg metro that most certainly must get its act together now, big time!

Property rates
There are one thing I want to now. For example we paid R60000 for our house 40 years ago. Now they value our property for over R2000000. Why do we have to pay rates and taxes on the higher amount. The municipality did not help to pay our bond where we had to pay interest rate of 21%.
We had to look after our premises to keep it neat and clean, maintenance.
Did water tank to save water when municipality ask public to help.
Did solar to save electricity when municipality ask public to help.
Please so why do we have to pay al these rates and levies.
Municipality did not help us to do any of above, all we have to do is pay, pay, pay
So I am asking is it the way to treat loyal rate payers and pensioners.

We the paying citizens suffer under all these increases while the informal settlements are growing at an Expeditious Rate.

- Our Electricity is Massively Impacted by their illegal connections
(MSS burnout due to overload)
Government and Municipalities are doing NOTHING about it

- They live for free, while we pay for everything they use
