I suffer from Asthma and so do my kids. For the sake of our health safety and the health safety of others like us please do the right thing.
I feel strongly about the other points too but our asthma has been progressively getting worse over time. Allergies and excemas is common day now and the remedies are expensive. All costs we have to beare.

We are writing to formally voice our family's grave concerns regarding the unsafe management and blatant disregard for community health and safety posed by the ongoing operations of PPC Laudium Quarry and associated concrete brick makers. Having proudly resided in Erasmia for 55 years, we have witnessed a severe and unacceptable deterioration in our quality of life.
Over the years, the intensity and frequency of industrial disruptions have significantly increased. Specifically, we strongly object to:
Heavy Blasting: Causing severe structural foundation and wall cracking in neighbouring homes.
Unregulated Fugitive Dust Fallout: Causing documented respiratory illness and coating our properties, threatening our daily health and well-being.
Noise Pollution: Industrial rock crushing and drilling operating during late-night hours and weekends, robbing us of peace and rest.
We OBJECT to PPC Laudium Quarry’s ongoing operations in their current unmitigated form.
We demand immediate regulatory enforcement and compliance sanctions, including immediate DMRE Section 54 Stoppage Orders, City of Tshwane Section 31L Compliance Notices, and the public disclosure of all withheld EMPr, AEL, and scientific monitoring records.
We expect open, transparent, and responsive action to be taken immediately to safeguard our community and our home of over half a century. We look forward to your urgent intervention and written response outlining the steps being taken.

    • Statutory Compliance:
PPC maintains its mining activities operate within limits under the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA), NEMA, and statutory permits, claiming regular internal and external audits confirm compliance.
    • Independent Monitoring:
The mine states an accredited consultant was appointed to monitor dust, noise, and vibration, and that dust buckets installed since February 2025 have not exceeded statutory thresholds.
    • Historical Land Use:
Management argues the quarry has operated lawfully for over 60 years and supplies essential building aggregates across the City of Tshwane economic corridor.
    • Causation:
PPC rejects liability for residential respiratory ailments and structural wall cracks, claiming claimants have not established a direct scientific and medical causal link to quarry operations.
    • Withholding Evidence:
If PPC’s independent monitoring demonstrates full compliance, management would have disclosed the reports as promised on 17 September 2025 instead of withholding them from affected residents.
    • Physical Damage Speaks for Itself (Res Ipsa Loquitur):
Clear structural fractures, cracked foundations, and damp ingress documented across Senorita Street homes directly mirror quarry blasting patterns and seismic blast timings.
    • Unacceptable Operational Hours:
Lawful quarrying does not entitle an operator to run aggregate crushers and heavy drill rigs at midnight or on Sunday mornings in close proximity to residential zones.
    • Regulatory Abdication:
The DMRE Mine Health & Safety Inspectorate and City of Tshwane Environmental Health have repeatedly failed to issue compliance notices despite numerous formal complaints, necessitating escalation directly to the Presidency.
