2026-05-15 17:43:16 +02:00 | Dylan | No I do not | Constitutional Violation & Conditional Rights | Unnecessary government over reach and there is no basis for the state to make moral judgements on what is and isnt allowed in religion. That is for the individual to decide.

2026-05-15 17:42:49 +02:00 | Eileen Linda | No I do not | Dangerous Precedent for All Civil Society (The Wildcard) | This government needs to concentrate on cleaning up corruption and fraud amongst government representatives and cadres and respect the constitutional rights of citizens of South Africa to self determination in this case regarding religion.
2026-05-15 17:42:49 +02:00 | Peter | No I do not | Dangerous Precedent for All Civil Society (The Wildcard) | The state should focus on doing what it should be doing: making GOOD use of our taxes, keeping people SAFE from CRIME and REAL threats - not be making up MORE STUFF they are INCOMPETENT AT!

2026-05-15 17:42:32 +02:00 | Danie | Not fully | All of the above | State Interference in Religious Ethics and Doctrine | Die godsdiensgemeenskap moet toegelaat word om eie etiese en menslike standaarde toe te pas sonder staatsinmenging. Daar moet ander maniere wees om onaanvaarbare praktyke aan die man te bring. |
2026-05-15 17:41:23 +02:00 | Richard | No I do not | State Interference in Religious Ethics and Doctrine | How does the state think they can dismantle a nation that is set on their Religious Beliefs that has been carried over from their predecessors, which keeps them in "line" for all the years past. What is happening to the freedom of choice that is the right of every person living? If the government has nothing else to keep them busy, rather try and sort out the corruption that is overruling our Country. Be active in a positive way, and leave our religion alone ! Don't scratch where it is not itching!

2026-05-15 17:40:37 +02:00 | Jeanette | No I do not | All of the above | Dangerous Precedent for All Civil Society (The Wildcard) | This is also a violation of our constitutional rights of freedom of religion. However the wider and bigger concern is the encroachment on civil rights of all South Africans. This sets a dangerous precedent which will absolutely and without any doubt be used in future to justify future erosion and interference and limitations on our Constitutional rights. |

2026-05-15 17:40:36 +02:00 | Frik | No I do not | Dangerous Precedent for All Civil Society (The Wildcard) | Religion is a personal matter and freedom of choice should be enforceable at all times. It is not something that can be regulated or prescribed by the State. Because religious master are a moral choice it remains a personal matter which may not be restricted by a government or it's laws.
2026-05-15 17:39:57 +02:00 | Derek | Not fully | Practical Impossibility of Standardisation (Unworkable) | Thanks once again for the opportunity to comment on this very important subject. Let us rather start with the questions, what is religion and what purposes does it serves, what is the definition of freedom and what purposes does it serves, is any baby born, born a criminal and who are the Creator of our finger prints and the creation we all are supposed to share. The next question to answer, what is the difference between qualifications and education and who are preliminary accountable for our education? We as Protestants are not religious people and will never associate us with any type of religion because we understand John chapter 3 and Galathians chapter 3, we also know our Shepherd as written in John chapter 10 and distance ourselves from those named in John chapter 8. The Word of God is our foundation and Ephesians chapter 6 defines our Constitutional rights, our freedom and our responsibility with respect to our education. The responsibility of the churches are defined in Maleagi chapter 3 without any uncertainty. The difference therefore between education and qualifications is clearly defined, qualifications is our field of training or expertise and does not have anything to do with education! The Prophet's Daniel and Isaiah warned us about the presence of the serpent and confirmed by Yeshua in Matthew chapter 24, the abomination of desolation or the freedom of religion and we are just witnesses of the destruction of this evil in our country. Our Temple is build outside Pretoria, the Voortrekker monument, and our history, our vow, our purpose, our achievements, our pain, our strive towards the South Africa we developed are all in one with the words in the center of the bottom floor, fellowship, hard work, difficulties, wars but the difference, we never looked back, always up to our God, the Creator of our finger prints and His Creation for His purpose. We are been created to His image to create and we are proud of our achievements. Religion arrived long after we entered our country, only with the Word of God in our presence without any buildings built by hands and bricks. Matthew chapter 22 verse 37, we love our God and keep His commandments, Exodus chapter 20 repeated in Exodus chapter 34 and 1 Corinthians chapter 13. We do judge others but are been judged because of who we are, even from Christians, but we know that Yeshua is the Word of God as declared in Revelation chapter 19, from Genesis chapter 1 to Revelation chapter 22, to know Him you need to read the Word of God! Yeshua's teachings is well explained in Matthew chapter 22, chapter 23 and chapter 24, also what is busy happening in Matthew chapter 25 and chapter 13!

2026-05-15 17:31:13 +02:00 | Lyle | No I do not | All of the above | Dangerous Precedent for All Civil Society (The Wildcard) | The government has no right to tell the private individual what it is allowed to believe in when it comes to religion or any other of its rights. i am against the government trying to control any part of anything that has nothing to do with removing the individual rights of the private individual. This is part of trying to control the public and it is not for the benefit of anyone but the world health organization. This is also a communistic view point and South africa is not communist. |
2026-05-15 17:30:52 +02:00 | AJ | No I do not | All of the above | Dangerous Precedent for All Civil Society (The Wildcard) | Having now emerged from a dictatorial Calvinist society, I have no desire to return to anything remotely resembling it. (Atheism and agnosticism also fit into the same framework.) |

-
- Standardising Accountability:
Proponents argue the framework is essential to establish clear standards for internal governance, financial transparency, and ethical leadership within religious organisations to restore public trust. - Protecting the Vulnerable:
The initiative aims to safeguard marginalised communities, including the poor and those with disabilities, from exploitation and harmful “healing” practices. - Sector-Led Reform:
The Committee describes the process as a voluntary, proactive initiative “by the Church, for the Church,” allowing the sector to govern itself rather than facing direct State intervention. - Independent Oversight:
Supporters emphasise that the proposed Christian Practice Council for Ethics and Accountability (CPCEA) would be an independent body of respected religious leaders and experts, not a government department.
- Standardising Accountability:
-
- The Legislative “Mask”:
Critics contend that while the process is labeled “voluntary,” the intended outcome is a statutory council created by an Act of Parliament with the legal authority to deregister institutions. - The “Four Uns”:
Opponents argue the proposal is Unconstitutional (violating freedom of religion), Unnecessary (existing laws already cover crimes like fraud and assault), Unworkable, and Unaffordable. - Regulation of “Ethics”:
There is concern that moving beyond criminal law to regulate “unethical conduct” allows the State to intrude into subjective matters of belief, doctrine, and private conscience. - The “Wildcard” Precedent:
Critics warn that establishing a State-enabled council for religion sets a legal precedent that could be used to justify similar government oversight of all civil society sectors, including the press and NGOs.
- The Legislative “Mask”:
