2026-05-06 13:13:46 +02:00 | Tanya | No I do not | Constitutionality | State control over religion poses a serious threat to constitutional freedoms, especially the right to freedom of religion, conscience, and belief. When the state begins to license or regulate faith, it risks overstepping into a space that should remain free from governmental control. Existing laws are already sufficient to address wrongdoing, whether it occurs in a church, business, or government setting. If a religious leader commits fraud or theft, they should be prosecuted under the same legal system as anyone else. Equality before the law already ensures accountability without creating special religious regulations. Adding oversight specifically for faith communities creates unnecessary bureaucracy and opens the door to potential abuse and restriction of legitimate religious expression. Each person also has the fundamental right to believe and practise according to their conscience. If a regulatory body is given authority over faith, it may begin to impose its own interpretations or values, limiting religious diversity and pressuring communities to conform. For example, South Africa’s law recognises same-sex marriage, while the Constitution also protects religious freedom. Many Christian denominations do not perform same-sex marriages based on doctrine, and they are currently allowed to hold and practise those beliefs. Expanding regulatory control into faith could risk future interference in matters of conscience and doctrine. In the South African context, there is also concern that regulatory systems can be misused or poorly implemented, creating risk of failure or abuse. It may also introduce new financial burdens through licensing fees and compliance costs, especially affecting smaller churches and ministries. For these reasons, and in defence of constitutional freedom, equality before the law, and protection against unnecessary burden and overreach, the licensing or regulation of faith should be firmly rejected. |

2026-04-28 16:33:42 +02:00 | Magda | No I do not | Constitutionality | Ek stem nie saam dat die regering Godsdiens reguleer nie. Ek wil godsdiensvryheid he ....!!!!!! |

Why government want to control ours and let a foreign religion in that plan to slowly convert all S. Africans to folliw their religion!!!! We detest this fully. |

2026-03-17 08:49:26 +02:00 | Elfrieda | No I do not | Other | South Africa is a known Christian country. Nothing should intervere or govern this religion. Islam is trying to take over and dominate other religions. Its not their right. They must go practice their religions in their own countries. |

2026-03-06 21:32:12 +02:00 | Anelisa | No I do not | Constitutionality | I do not support the regulation of religion as it threatens our freedom of religion. People outside our religion should not have power to regulate matters of a religion they are not a part of as they do not necessarily share the same values. |

2026-03-02 19:51:35 +02:00 | Stadler | No I do not | Other | Die Suid Afrikaanse regering is nie by magte om geloofsoortuigings te reguleer en lisensieer nie aangesien dit n sekulêre instelling is en nie n geestelike mandaat het nie. |
2026-02-27 16:17:02 +02:00 | Hanelie | No I do not | Other | In South Africa, discussions about regulating churches through the CRL Rights Commission raise serious concerns for many believers. The issue is not accountability. The Church must operate with integrity and within the law. But Scripture teaches that Christ is the Head of the Church — not the state. When governments begin overseeing or regulating religious institutions beyond basic legal compliance, history shows this can slowly lead to control. In countries like China, religious bodies are state-regulated and closely monitored. Many see that as a warning example of what happens when government authority extends into spiritual leadership and doctrine. South Africa is constitutionally secular, not a Christian government. That means freedom of religion must be carefully protected. If the state begins determining how churches are governed, we risk compromising that freedom. God governs His Church. The state governs civil order. When those lines blur, religious liberty can quietly erode. |
