Electricity
We strongly object to the proposed 12.75% electricity and 7.3% water tariff increases, especially considering the current economic hardships faced by residents in the Bojanala Platinum District. These hikes are not only excessive but also unjustifiable given the ongoing service delivery challenges in municipalities such as Madibeng, Moretele, and Moses Kotane.

1. Electricity: A 12.75% increase will heavily burden low-income households, many of whom already struggle to afford basic energy needs. Load shedding and inconsistent supply make it even harder to justify this steep rise.

2. Water: A 7.3% increase is unreasonable in communities that face irregular water supply, poor infrastructure, and in some areas, complete lack of access to clean water.

Without visible improvements in service delivery, these increases will widen inequality, and hurt the very people government is meant to serve.

We recommend a freeze on increases until:

- Transparent audits are conducted,
- Infrastructure upgrades are complete,
- And reliable service delivery is guaranteed.

We are already paying too much for everything. The municipality is all about money and not even offering services we really need. No more tariff hikes. WE SAY NO!

Unrealistic Property Rates , get realistic rates not just an annual approximate increase
Stop wasting water and fix water leaks promptly with quality products that last
Over staffed, over paid, incompetent workers throughout the municipality, get rid of them
stop wasting money on Durban July, Lunches, Blue Light Brigades, Protection, Cars, all these and more are unnecessary and waste rate payers money
STOP CORRUPTION
STOP TENDERPRENEURS
STOP WASTEFUL EXPENDITURE
i could go on....

Water
Using valuation on property to for water charge is unfair
Most of us middle n low class have bought our property @ a low cost valuation have increased drastically with result our rates have increased.
Now they wanna charge ur water according to the value of ur property most of us won't be able to to keep up with result to us falling in arrears

My top concerns are all of the above mentioned items. Rates, electricity, water, salaries etc. How are we to survive. No jobs, no income, but also absolutely ZERO service from the COJ.

Good day

With the current tarrif increase it is my concerns that this funding will still not be put to good use.

Our current municipality is in shambles. Roads are in disastrous conditions, water and sewer lines lay open on many roads . Many people have no water for days and have to rely on good samitarins to "sponsor" clean water just to survive.

If the current tarrifs and fees are not managed adequately, how can they even request a further increase?

Talk about mismanagement ... they would rather paint the roads and speed bumps than fill in the pot holes.

People and business suffer daily because the municipality fails to upkeep this town to a decent condition.
No more increases till we get what we've already paid for.

Increases have to stay below inflation. Stop wasting our hard earned money. We don't see any improvement with our taxes. Please look at the state of your municipal building. It is falling apart! Charity starts at home!

My property is at 6 Croton Road, Primrose, Germiston. I am not sure what the new Suburb is because I have never been informed.

To increase R&T tariffs is a joke. None of the propery values have increased in the last 5 years as the squatter camps are edging ever closer and not all the new residents in Primrose take care of the properties. Primrose, like Germiston is a filthy hovel, nothing gets repaired, the streets are in a state of disrepair (except a part of Beaconsfield Avenue) foreigners have moved in everywhere.

I am a pensioner and have lived in my home for 40+ years. Primrose was not only the biggest suburb in the world at one stage, but it was clean, tidy and well kept. If you look athe state of our cemetary, you will get the full picture of Primrose. It is an absolute disgrace! Infrascturture is falling apart.

Now there is a hike in Rates and Taxes - WHY????

Clean up this place and get a good enough reason to increase the Rates & Taxes.
Fill the potholes, mark the streets and put street names back where they belong, on the street corners - but please paint them on the pavements, at least they won't be stolen and sold for scrap metal.

The general cost increases must stay below the general inflation rate.
Excessively high tinder prices must be investigated and rectified.

Our rates have gone up astronomically. It is crazy to agree to another increase.

Stop the waste of Government expenses and we won't need to increase the Rates

The increases proposed are completely unacceptable for the rate base that eThekwini municipality is proposing. People are stretched to the limit of their incomes, and there is absolutely no service delivery from them. The municipality needs to look inwards and look elsewhere to cut costs and cut back on unnecessary spending.

I object to all of the increases, especially electricity rates and salary increases.
Instead of curtailing fraud, waste and unnecessary expenditure and reducing the bloated, overpaid civil service, the politicians want to ruin the economy by making property ownership unaffordable and enriching their cadres.
Many of us are living on a fixed income and everything is becoming more and more expensive.

I feel that the cost of living is high enough. If the government wants more money then they could stop stealing our taxes and actually use it for what it is meant for. I feel that they are forcing everybody into poverty. Even as a business owner, I am battling to survive and can only imagine what the poorer members of society are facing.
