In a country where the unemployment rate is incredibly high, it is absolutely counterproductive and idiotic to keep on increasing the minimum wage. It just deters prospective employers and contributes to the number of people not finding jobs. Rather focus on removing employment barriers and growing the economy. a minimum wage should only be introduced once most citizens are employed.

Inflation and the cost of living,
Government needs to create job opportunities for graduates other than matriculates. There is no justification for the weekly increases in food prices. The salaries and wages in the Cape Province are way below inflation.

I would love to say yes I support yet another increase because inflation is a huge burden for me. Moreover for low income citizens. (Wish my income can increase annually too with inflation + 1.5%)

Fact of the matter is: Why do employers, on whom our economy relies, have to pick up the bill for the governments corruption, incompetence and mismanagement.

There once was a time when this country's electricity was among the cheapest in the world. We had oil reserves and were able to relief some pressure due to currency fluctuations. Our currency was worth more. We were less reliant on imports. The function of our local government was not to create jobs but to provide services at affordable rates. Illegal immigrants was unknown and thus no liability. Etc. Etc. Etc.

If government functions properly, I believe, it can raise our buying power and increase and maintain everybody's standard of living. Our economy is out of balance and heading for disaster.

Time to follow the advice of this country's economists.
