The cost of normal day living is already too high. No one will be able to afford to just survive. Everything is more expensive, groceries, fuel prices, school fees, etc and unfortunately the salaries don't grow with inflation.

You are then making living expenses so high which will cause more and more illegal connections. Salaries and wages don't increase with 36%. No food. No housing. Because money goes into electricity accounts. Basic needs is becoming unaffordable, making poverty more in RSA.

imprudence/inefficiency of Eskom
Cheapest generation of electricity is apparently coal so stick with this so that all of RSA can afford electricity
Maintenance of electricity, water and sewage systems has been diabolical - absolutely essential for the life and health of all south african people that this service provided efficiently-that is what we pay for - currently it is a shambles and totally corrupt

SA produce about 60% of coal with is enough to produce enough electricity for South Africans, if need be electricity that is being sold to near by countries must be cut to sustain SAns. And beside that, SA is facing high unemployment rate they are struggling now how are they going to pay for such hikes

No concern
My concern is that if Eskom increase the rate or price s of Electricity, ,it cause lots of companies to retrench their employees, unemployment rate will increases and the poorest of the poorest will suffer. I suggest that Eskom should increase prize's of the electricity base on CPI not 36 percentage, I therefore reject 36 percentage increase because if we allow it to happen things are going to be more expensive in our country.

With theft and corruption still being a factor, I absolutely do not support an increase of this magnitude

Financial concerns as most South Africans are already struggling to survive, how can we afford electricity if it is 36% more expensive?

The proposed increases in electricity costs are simply unaffordable. I no longer receive a salary. I am passed the age of employment and sincerely request that the elderly be considered and are provided for. I believe a rebate (or reduced cost) for elderly people should occur. We cannot cope with the continuous rise in the cost of living and other unexpected costs which fluctuate, such as electricity, food and fuel.

Eskom should focus on getting back the old debts owed to them by the Government orgranisations and any other organisation private or public to pay them back which runs into bilions of dollars

So Eskom basically forcing us as citizens to recode our meters and more likely we will pay more than we ever had when it comes to buying electricity/units, and to make it worse, now Eskom wants people to pay more for having solar related products, which is the dumbest of what I have heard by far. The government could have come up with a solution a long time ago since loadshedding has started. Since we living in a sunny country, why not go for solar??There is one solution since Eskom can't come up with any ideas. My other question is, what about the people living in informal settlement? As we all know they won't be affected about this because for years they have been stealing power from street lights. It saddens me to think, I feel like a slave in my own country. There is has never been any freedom whatsoever.
