Looking at the plight of unemployed doctors. To take this discussion further, we are joined by the Chairperson of the Junior Doctors Association of South Africa Doctor Matsobane Molomo, the Coordinator for Research and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning from the Treatment Action Campaign Morongwa Ntini, The Public Service Association’s Mlungisi Ndlovu.
High vacancy rates in the public sector have resulted in more workers doing overtime work. More concerning is that overtime pay has become part of many officials’ lifestyles. This has caused dependency with some depending on income generated through overtime work.
