Undermining of parental rights and family values
No-one tells my children about sexuality without my consent. It is my duty and privilege as a parent to teach them and I will not let someone else decide what our values are and what my children can be exposed to. This is a gross violation of my beliefs and rights.

The ECE toolkit does not promote transgender ideology but rather a ideology of gender equality. This is 100% needed and I agree that this needs to be implemented at the Early stage so that children may be more exposed to the possibilities available to them. In such that this conflicts with the norms and values regarding sex and gender that many parents hold and have the legal right to pass onto their children, these are the issue, the parents prefer to keep the children confined to traditional gender roles where boys drive cars and girls cook food so to speak.

In my opinion girls are allowed to like outdoors and blue and should not be prevented by teachers or other community leaders from achieving their dreams.

Objection to the Implementation of the ECE Toolkit Without Public Participation

I strongly object to the Department of Basic Education’s (DBE) covert introduction of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Toolkit, which seeks to embed gender ideology and gender identity training into the curriculum for educators of children aged 0–9. The DBE’s decision to proceed without public consultation is not only undemocratic but also unconstitutional. Public participation is a cornerstone of policymaking in a democratic state, especially when the content in question affects the foundational years of a child’s education.

The ECE Toolkit, by the DBE’s own admission, introduces concepts of transgender ideology to impressionable children at pre-primary and primary school levels. This is a deeply sensitive and contested area of public concern, which demands open dialogue, careful consideration of developmental psychology, and full transparency. Parents, teachers, and communities have a constitutional right to be informed and to contribute to educational content that shapes the social and moral framework of young learners.

It is deeply troubling that the DBE believes it can circumvent public input in a matter of such significance. Not only does this erode trust, but it also undermines parental rights, cultural diversity, and the right to freedom of belief and conscience. Education policy must be inclusive, but not ideologically prescriptive — especially when targeting the youngest members of society who are still developing a basic understanding of self and the world around them.

In conclusion, I call on the DBE to immediately halt the implementation of the ECE Toolkit until a thorough, transparent, and inclusive public participation process has taken place. The education of South African children must remain accountable to the public, guided by constitutional values, and always in the best interests of the child.

This will confuse children even more. Stop putting ideas into young hearts that cannot comprehend them. Parents should be the educators on this, not the teacher.

This will put a strain on the community at large, and you can see how desperate the government is, accepting money from international organisations that do not share our values.

This is a rubbish bill. As parents, I would like to have control over the kind(s) of gender ideologies that are being implanted in my child. Moreso, it should be the parents who decide to be more open about gender beyond the conventional male and female genders which have existed since beginning of time.

As Ngobeni Mafoko Foundation, a community-based organization working closely with children, families, and educators, we are deeply concerned by the Department of Basic Education’s decision to bypass public participation in rolling out the ECE Toolkit, which reportedly trains educators to introduce gender ideology to children aged 0 to 9 years.

Here’s why public participation is non-negotiable:

1. Parents and guardians have the right to be consulted about content introduced to their children — especially on values-based or identity-related topics.

2. Early childhood education (ECE) must reflect age-appropriate, culturally grounded, and community-informed content, not unilateral ideology imposed without consent.

3. Rolling out material of this nature without transparency or engagement risks breaching trust between schools and communities, especially in rural and traditional contexts where cultural norms around gender are deeply rooted.

We are not opposed to inclusivity and anti-discrimination. But these values must be implemented through open dialogue, context-sensitive curriculum development, and respect for parental rights.

We strongly demand:

- Immediate suspension of the ECE Toolkit until a nationwide public participation process is conducted;
- A full disclosure of the Toolkit’s content;
- The inclusion of civil society, educators, parents, and cultural leaders in any further development or implementation.

Undermining of parental rights and family values
am writing as a deeply concerned citizen, father, and advocate for family values, to express my unequivocal opposition to the proposed implementation of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Toolkit — a training program reportedly designed to equip educators with tools to promote transgender ideology to children between the ages of 0–9 years.

This initiative, in its current form and intention, raises a number of constitutional, ethical, and developmental concerns that I believe are being dangerously overlooked. My objections are rooted in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa and are structured around the following five critical points:

1. Complete Absence of Public Consultation
Section 59(1)(a) of the Constitution obligates the National Assembly to:

"facilitate public involvement in the legislative and other processes of the Assembly and its committees."

No broad-based consultation, debate, or national awareness campaign has been conducted with South African parents, educational stakeholders, or religious communities regarding this ECE Toolkit. Proceeding with such a radical shift in early childhood content without parental or public input is not only undemocratic — it is unconstitutional.

2. Undermining of Parental Rights and Family Values
Section 28(1)(b) clearly states:

"Every child has the right to family care or parental care..."

This right implicitly includes the role of parents as primary decision-makers in the moral and psychological development of their children. Introducing transgender ideology to toddlers and young children without explicit parental consent is a direct violation of the rights of parents to guide their children’s upbringing in accordance with their values and beliefs.

This also conflicts with the spirit of Section 29(1)(b):

“Everyone has the right to receive education... that respects... the rights of parents to choose the form of education best suited to their values and religious convictions.”

3. Undermining of Relig

Why are they so focused on this issue rather than improving public school pass rates. They should improve the quality of education given to these kids rather than trying to brainwash them with woke ideology lies.

There are now words in the English or any other language on how WRONG THIS IS! Those little children's brain are not yet developed to comprehend this kind of information, and actually changes the brain in a negative way. I am a parent, and I ABSOLUTELY HATE the fact this these evil people with their evil agendas are hijacking our children and the relationships of parents with their kids. It is totally against my religion as a child of God, and I will not stand for this. I plea to every single parent with children of any age to FIGHT AGAINST THIS WITH ALL YOUR POWER! REMEMBER WORDS HAVE POWER! Make it good words! Don't let the devil steal our children!

This is contrary to the beliefs and convictions of many parents - and even the teachers themselves. For example: who decides what gender stereotypes are harmful? And what gender stereotypes are holding back a 3-year-old that need to be corrected?
Children in preschool DO NOT need to learn about sexual orientation and gender identities from their schoolteachers.
This will directly cause division homes. Teaching these ideas to a developing 4-year-old will only separate them from their family

Scientists and doctors can't agree on this ideology and you want to teach it to children? It offends most religious beliefs. In a predominantly Christian society, it definitely requires public consultation.

This is yet another opportunity for “connected people”to steal more money from the state purses. Train teachers, build proper schools and facilities for children. Children under 9 do NOT need “ideology training” at school. Leave the parenting to the parents. Govt must focus on fixing the education system, not interfering once again with issues they have no business with.

I oppose the plans to indoctrinate the nations children with this foreign propaganda that is designed to fracture our society. We must protect children. Schools should be in the business of teaching what are familiy matters.
