Corruption, crime, incompetence have brought SA to the brink and that the powers vaguely set out in the bill will be used properly is unlikely given experience since 1994. Billions spent on the commission that clearly sets out how state capture took place (and is still happening - see ESKOM, Transnet for example) yet has had almost no action on the part of the government makes one suspicious of what these powers are to be used for! |
