Municipalities are a total waist of money that was meant to develop the communities. Parliament must create an Act that will force The municipalities to employ persons with qualifications relevant for the public service, AND NOT political spinning. The Tender process must be abolished and criminalized in municipalities by an ACT of parliament

What value for money are we receiving? Bloody greedy ANC crooks are stealing rather than diverging services. Enough is enough

Rates and taxes need to be lowered substantially so that more property owners can afford to keep their properties. New buyers can puchase new homes and pay a reasonable rate thereby the books would balance . Drawing blood from the paying property owners is stupidity. They will eventually not be able to pay. The method used to collect higher rates when we do not even have a fully functional economy is ridiculous a sound and intelligent solution should be found. Do not look only to raising rates. Solves nothing... heating a dying horse.....
You need new streams of funding .looking to raise rates property owners., does not solve the problem. Good economic poĺicies ( free market) is tge only way to spread the burden

How do they even think of raising rates whilst telling us our properties are worth NIL and the pathetic service delivery is the cherry on top.

When residing in a DA run municipality, the DA is of the belief, that you should pay more because everything works.
When I pay for a service,it's measured to cover the cost. Not if it works. When I pay a painter to paint my house . a Price is agreed upon When the job is done correctly,I do not pay the painter more because the job was done properly. The painter committed to a job properly done. It's the same principle. The other municipalities are run ,where you pay for no service, nothing. But I guess, to cover the cost of their socialist system and agenda ,they need more money. As nothing in life is for free, someone has to cover the cost for the person who receives it for free. We've been indoctrinated to believe all the lies they spew ,and we never managed to grasp that we have been in a socialist system for quite some time now.Now we are paying the price for allowing this to happen. They surely won't stop , untill the people are broke or there is no more options to rob the people.

We have pensioner headed homes ,who are sole dependent on social grants, the increasing rates and taxes puts more pressure and strain on basic needs.

Service delivery

There is money for trips and meetings, but sewerage is flowing into the river and "boiling" up in residential properties. Entering the town it is with an unbearable smell in your nostrils. Robots are working sometimes, unable to fix streetlights, potholes more and deeper. Parks and curbs not maintained. Basic decency, order and to clean up after something was fixed is non-existent - it just becomes a heap of rubble. Marapong was without water for weeks. Even the Municipality building is not properly maintained, toilets are broken. No ability to do learner license or new driver license - there was fraud 2024. Still the service is not restored - pathetic. Freeze the municipality rates and taxes until they can show that they are able to manage and give proper services, not only distroying assets and mis-using funds.

We are way over-taxed especially considering that our services are so bad.
I would like to motivate as well for the removal of the admin fee of R200 for pre-paid electricity, for poor people. This policy is anti-poor and has a huge impact on the ability of poor households to manage their meagre income. Just basic things like cooking supper. The other issue is the increase in rates and taxes because of huge increases in home valuations, which and adversely affects homeowners in the lower-middle classes.
