They do not maintain the water pipelines in our town and we are constantly without water.
We reported a water leak in the road in front of our house several times. The leak damaged our property, severely damaged the road and sent already precious water down the drain. They keep sending us someone else's water bill that we then have to contact them to sort out.The roads are in a deplorable state, especially in town. The sewage farm has been broken for more than 30 years already, dumping sewage into the river that goes into the water of a large informal settlement. They can't drink the water. They have to live in stink. Now they have no water and the municipality send water trucks in and charge ridiculous amount of rands for water to an already poveraged community.

I am not happy with the way the City of Cape Town is driving densification in our area which has a dire lack of resources able to support this. They are only concerned about supporting developers and not about the residents and do not put any of the money they get from these additional rates back into the community. Table View is beginning to look like a slum with frequent water outages and sewage spills in the streets. The roads are also full of potholes and if they get repaired it is such a rubbish job.
They are also not interested in engaging or listening to the residents, their support is 100% skewed towards developers who put up horrible tenement-type buildings.

 |

I enjoy the people in the community who support one another but this has nothing to do with the City of Cape Town.

 |

There should be a moratorium on ANY building until the sewage works in the area is upgraded and ANY future plans for development should have services in place BEFORE development commences. I also want them to put more effort into decent buildings and green areas in our suburbs and not letting developers put up any old shit!

Failed disfunction al Muni that has many years of failed Audits. Calls to have Mayor and Muni Manager dismissed went legal and Govt intervened. The dissolution of Muni managers and councellirs are key to rebuild a functioning muni. Till then, closure of businesses occur (40 in 2018, pre covid exodus). In Aug 22, 4 busy closing. Consequences is that the 3000 odd employed people feeding the 100 000 unemployed is shrinking. End result is hungry angry residents. Violence like July 2 roots is not something we want in our amazing town.

It's the Ubuntu spirit of our community.

Not fully

 |

Potholes and burst pipes are abundant. They are attended to, but it takes days or weeks (in some cases months) to be resolved, and then not always fully.
Lots of rubbish in the streets, on street corners, in Randburg CBD.traffic lights are out for weeks on end.Disregard of the rules of the road, not only by taxis, but now also by general motorists, as there are no legal consequences.
