2025-03-26 09:02:22 +02:00 | Wesley | No I do not | Other | Sounds very much like invasion of privacy. Yet another scam of our ANC government to attempt to turn this country into a communist state where the government whishes to have authority over private property. |

2025-03-25 17:10:34 +02:00 | LYNN | Yes I do | Chapter 2 — Approval and consideration of applications | One should be able to set up a CCTV camera on one's own private property without the consent or interference of the Council, especially if the Council and law enforcement services wish to be permitted by the private owner of the camera to view footage from it if it overlooks the street or other public land. A CCTV camera is generally installed to enable one to record activities and/or people outside one's property that may endanger the person or any property on those private premises, or to view persons or activities that are suspected to have led to the harm to or loss of persons or property on or in the premises being monitored by a privately owned and installed CCTV camera and such protection of the home should not need permission. Any CCTV camera on private property should be acceptable to the Council as long as either the owner of or tenant of a property can prove that the camera belongs to the property and is not equipment that has been installed by anyone unrelated to the property for reasons unknown. Furthermore, should a member of law enforcement or the Council wish to view what has been recorded on a privately-owned CCTV camera, an appointment to do so must be arranged beforehand to avoid advantage being taken by any criminal element simply trying to use the excuse of accessing the contents of the camera as a method of gaining entry to anyone's premises. |
