2025-12-05 10:52:25 +02:00 | Dylan | No I do not | Other | Other | I do not support these regulations for the following reasons: 1. The regulations, in conjunction with the BELA Act, empower the Head of Department to override school governing bodies on language policies, potentially forcing single-medium Afrikaans schools to adopt additional languages. This violates Section 29(2) of the Constitution, which guarantees education in the language of choice where reasonably practicable, and Section 31, by threatening the cultural preservation of Afrikaans-speaking communities. 2. By shifting final authority on admissions and capacity from elected school governing bodies to the Head of Department, the regulations undermine community involvement and procedural fairness under Section 33 of the Constitution. This administrative overreach disproportionately affects minority-language schools, reducing local decision-making essential for cultural integrity. 3. Uniform capacity norms (e.g., learner-educator ratios) fail to account for diverse school contexts, potentially leading to forced integration that dilutes Afrikaans instruction. This constitutes indirect discrimination against white Afrikaans-speaking families under Section 9, exacerbating inequality by prioritizing majoritarian demographics over minority rights. 4. While the BELA Act requires resources for language changes, the regulations lack enforceable mechanisms, timelines, or funding guarantees. This risks degrading education quality in Afrikaans-medium schools, contravening Section 29(1)'s right to basic education and leading to potential school closures or transformations. 5. Provisions creating offenses for disrupting school activities could suppress legitimate protests defending language rights, infringing on Sections 16 (freedom of expression) and 17 (assembly). Overall, the regulations prioritize standardisation over the protection of linguistic minorities, potentially violating international standards like UNESCO's Convention against Discrimination in Education. |

2025-12-04 09:17:55 +02:00 | Nadia | No I do not | Authority to admit learners by HOD | Quality of performance | There are multiple concerns abou this act, and the government has no business in education. Since they took over the quality of education drastically deteriorated and they have shown how incompetent they are . They push their agendas without any regard of consequences. They do not have the learners best interest at heart. |
2025-12-04 09:03:16 +02:00 | J | No I do not | Proof of immunisation | Curriculum and extracurricular choices | During the Bela participation process we were told what we are allowed to mention in our objections and what we were not allowed to speak on. Immunization was one of them. It was pointed out that the clause which gives the minister power to make arbitrary regulations will give her the power to make immunizations mandatory. That was a dangerous clause. A clause giving someone way too much power on making decisions. It is the choice of each and every individual as to whether they want immunize or not. The state has no power to decide on what medical procedures I have to have. You cannot make vaccinations/immunizations a mandatory requirement, for anything. You cannot deny a child an education due to not being able to provide proof of immunization. |

2025-12-03 08:35:33 +02:00 | Keren | No I do not | Other | Quality of performance | The least intelligent among us making the laws affecting education is comical. Most cant even speak proper english themselves but want it as the main language of instruction. I disagree with most of the bill. Government needs to get the hell out of the homes of citizens. I will not have the government decide anything about my children and what's best for them and their education. They cant even run an economy and do their jobs now they want more say and power. Tsek. You already ruined the English schools leave the Afrikaner schools alone and build your own. You ruined the standard of education. |

2025-12-03 06:04:29 +02:00 | Claudette | No I do not | Admission of non-SA citizens | Quality of performance | South African schools have a problem with overcrowded classrooms and a lack of qualified teachers. Our children cannot read for meaning because we are accomodating illegal foreigner's children, to the detriment of our own. Schools in the vacinity are filled by these people first, while our children have to travel long distances to schools. Please send these illegals home because they are draining our resources. There is NO WAR in their countries. |

Get your country in order b4 allowing foreigners into our country. |

2025-11-29 18:24:19 +02:00 | Joanne | No I do not | Home schooling | Objectives | The school system in South Africa is abysmal, classes that are over capacity, teachers that don’t have adequate resources and training. Bullying and lack of discipline. |
